Thread: reinforcements delayed?

  1. #1

    Default reinforcements delayed?

I never had this happened to me in vanilla RTW but this happens to me all the time in EB. Is this something that was added to the game? I actually like it, because it adds suspense and difficulty to the battles.
Are there certain traits that will increase the likelyhood of having the reinforcements delayed? Because sometimes it seems like the same commanders always have reinforcements delayed.

AFAIK 'reinforcements delayed' happens when your computer can't load all of the units into the fight because your system can't handle it, the whole delayed reinforcements thing is just Rome's way of justifying it. (IIRC M2TW mentioned this in the 'reinforcements delayed' window it brought up)

If you want that reinforcements delayed thing turned off, just head to your EB preferences text file and edit the UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD:FALSE to UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD:TRUE.

    okay thanks
when the reinforcements do arrive, is this because enough men have died for the computer to handle the reinforcements coming in?

Strangely enough, it never seems to have problems with the AI getting more than 20 units, but I never get them. Last battle I fought was against 30-something AI units.

Can't say I'm that bothered, I don't want to be messing around with that many units, but it is strange.

Actually, if you let the AI control your reinforcements that is not an issue either. It simply has to do with the interface limitations. And that means you can control 20 units max. If you let the AI control your reinforcements, they do show up.

Well if that is the issue, than wouldn't allowing unlimited troops on the battlefield do nothing to fix it?

Nope. It would do nothing to fix it.

If your full stack of depleted units gets attacked, then you will have to fight with those. Your reinforcements cannot enter the battle if you have control over them. But if you let the AI control the reinforcements, then they can enter the battle. That is because of the 20 units max rule for human players.

This can be quite tricky if the reinforcements are almost a full stack.
