I believe he was most likely engaged in the battle at some point pre-charge. Will this actually remove a hp from the stats? Even if your officer hasnt had a loss to his unit yet? I usually save my officer unless absolutely necessary or for routers etc. It does make sense I guess, I do remember the other TW titles and youd lose soldiers occasionally as they chased routers down, cant always prevent courage from occurring at the unit level.


Its a different bone to pick, but Its much better system to have your officer regenerate his bodyguard after a battle. In MTW1 Id sometimes have to save old bodyguard units just so that my generals wouldnt degenerate down to 1 knight on a horse. It was time consuming, not always possible and occasionally cost me a battle or 2 since it became a nuisance once the bodyguard was under 10 men and to precious to chance a loss of even a single knight.
