Report for 1141:
My fellow senators and royal family of the Komnenos let us all rejoice in the following news:
My admiration go to all those that managed to defeat these fanatics and furthermore invade their territories. It is entirely appropriate that armies under the command of our legendary leader Basilues Aleksios Komnenos dealt the last blow to the jihad. I understand that one of the few casulaties was a personal friend of the Basilues, I pass on my regrets. As I have said in the senate I shall not rest until these heathens are brought to heel and feel the Roman sword in their homelands.
Priorities:
Pavlos Chrysovergos has had the Byzantine Infantry retrained and two Trebizond archer units recruited in Tblisi as requested. However I was unable to retrain the Trebizond archers in Dyanbikar as requested due to the absence of the correct facilities. Further troops will be built in Tblisi when more men are found (OOC: next turn). The prioritized Leather Tanner will have to wait until work on the farmlands in Tblisi has been completed.
With the completion of the Walls in Constantinople the building will begin right away on the City Hall that the Basilues has requested.
Senator and family announcements:
Comes Vissarionas ek Lesvou has been moved west from Dongala towards Thebes, it was fortunate that he crossed the Nile as he can now see a medium sized Egyptian army directly across the river. It seems the Fatamid's still have isolated warlords loyal to their cause.
Strator Nikolaos Aristenos has began the long journey from Sofia towards the lands of his new master across the seas. His first journey his toward the port of Thessolonica where a small fleet has been made available for the crossing.
I, Nevoulas ek Philadelphius have modified my journey after the defeat of the Jihad at our Capitol and now make my journey south west toward Smyrna.
My congratulations to Comes Methodios Tagaris on his fourth child, a girl named Theodora may she inherit her mothers good looks.
Further congratulations to Isaakos Komnenus on the birth of his second child named after his brother Ioannis (yes another one!!!).
Andrinikos Komnenos has yet another candidate for adoption
Building:
My extensive building works will no doubt catch the eye, I said some time ago that I believed the empire contained too many military outposts and not enough money spinning city like settlements.
I pass on my thanks to Pavlos Chrysovergos and Lisas Attaleiatis for allowing me to convert Trebizond from a Castle to a Town.
I have also made similar modifications to Scopia and Aleppo as I felt necessary.
My desire to aid House Illes Korakas in appeasing their settlements, compelled me to build some Council chambers in Cairo.
I have also commissioned garrison quarters to be built in Belgrade and a Bowyer in Corinth, to aid my plans of fortifying the west.
Work has finished of the Chapel at Nicosia, the Port in Bucherest, the Town hall in Sinop and the small chapel in Dongola.
Thessolonica has an offer for a Merchents Guild - I have left the offer open for Patrikos Ioannis Kalemetros to consider.
Misc:
Due in part to the Moorish sackings in the west, the people of Arta, Athens and Thessolonica have had to appeased with lower tax rates to avoid the danger of full scale rioting.
The Fleet in the eastern Mediterranean has been consolidated in Acre, with the ambition to blockade gaze as soon as possible.
Aragon and Sicily are now at war.
Relations have impoved further with the Kievan Rus.
I open up the save here:
