We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

I'm using auto-tax too...
You might make a little less than optimal florins per turn in the more troublesome provinces, but it saves a great deal of micro-management.
- Auto-tax here as well.
I see it like this; my barons can watch over the land, whilst I, as a medieval tyrant, can pore over the maps and work out where I shall plan my next victory.
Quick further question; Anyone use auto assign titles?
I don't auto anything, and my set up is just like Drone's except for the "Display non-critical messages" - I really don't need a seperate parchment for each watch tower that goes up every turn, I'd much rather have the one single "Buildings completed" report (and same for agent reports etc...)
However, I do like to have "Show computer moves" as it gives a good over-view of what everyone's up to - it's a lot more graphic when you can see all the AI troop movements when they are amassing an invasion force. Mind you, it can take a long while if you have the whole map revealed![]()

I have auto assign and auto tax on, I hate the micro-manageing side of MTW.It's easily the worst thing in the game.
I Auto-tax from day one, really no need to do that yourself unless you believe that loyalty and land enheritage from foreign princesses is related in any kind (Yeah, right).
Once my empire is secured (usually past turn 40-50) I turn on auto-title. When I "obtain" a province, or construct a building with a command or acumen bonus, I manually assign that specific title. Titles are only assigned after the end of turn.
I never, ever, auto-build. Not units, not buildings. Why do you want to do that? Though I sometimes praise the AI, it never knows MY plan.Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
What I would like to have on auto, and sourly misses, is the option to auto-move new units to a designated province, say for example all camels trained in Egypt shows up in Morocco after 1-2 turns.
"Show moves" I always use. If I get bored I can always press "spacebar", whereas sometimes you want to know what's going on.
I also usually have untidy units, you know what I mean. I especially hate it when it auto-merges two siege crews and scrap one perfectly working cannon. When I have absolutely no siege engines, then the option is on. I find it too work-like to manually merge elite units to assemble one or two really nice regiments. Murphys law ensures that unit is the target of mayheim in the next battle anyways.

It's been my experience that auto-tidy will screw you over when it comes to upgraded units. Maybe it's just me, but it always seems to merge armoured units into unarmoured ones and such. So I leave it off. I like to micromanage anyway, I'd prefer to write up the reassignment papers for each individual soldier if I could.![]()

Yeah, an auto-rally system would've been nice.
As it is, there is partial (albeit imperfect) solution: If you drag-and-drop a unit from one province to another province that's a fair distance away, then that unit will automatically make its way to the target province. You can do the same thing with agents as well.
Same here. Auto-merge/tidy always seems to wind up doing about the exact opposite of what I would've preferred. I long ago discovered that I was generally better off leaving that option disabled.
