The Pope in question may have the "secretly female" trait. I have one in one of the three campaigns that I am now playing. It would be just too clever, even for CA, to program a "secretly female" Pope to make irrational, widely variant decisions. Has any game ever been that realistic?

Perhaps the whole AI in M2TW is secretly female. My observations as follows:

Poor and irrational decisions - Definately Female
Will not agree upon any peace deal after fighting a losing war (won't kiss and make up) - Female
Constantly Bankrupt - yup, female
Can't navigate around a map - female
