Constantinople was renowned for its wealth, and the goods which flowed through it. Jews, unlike Christians and Muslims, were not forbidden from charging interest, and hence, many filled the roles of merchants and bankers.

So, my hypothesis is that Rythmic was a Jewish merchant. Now, I have absolutely no idea what that would mean in terms of the game, however.
