    Default Good Old Games

This place looks like it could be interesting:

    http://www.gog.com/

They will be selling 'old' games for direct download at $5 or $10 per game, with all DRM stripped out, and all XP/Vista compatibility problems resolved.

I saw that they offered Freespace 2 there. The game, right now, is free for anyone to download and play as I understand it. IIRC, a google search can easily get you the game for free.

Thanks for the site, TinCow. I need to earn real money first.

Good find TinCow. I really hope they have Masters of Orion II, I lost my old copy while moving, and it'd be awesome to be able to play it on my newer computer.

Apparently the site is owned by CD Projekt, who made The Witcher.

I still have my old UK import of Operation Flashpoint (one of the few games that was released in the UK first instead of the US), and since it works perfectly on XP, I see no reason to re-buy it.

Hmmmm. $5-10 isn't terrible. I guess it depends on what the final outcome is. If they have a good selection, and it truly turns out that they have zero DRM, including call-home or whathaveyou, then I'll jump all over this.

    Good find.

Personally, I like buy original versions and getting them to work myself, but I'm willing to give the beta a try.
