I'm getting a Heart of Darkness vibe from Vissarionas now, but is he Harlow or Kurtz?

We won't know until he gets to Dongola, if he gets to Dongola.

As long as he doesn't turn out to be Dennis Hopper's character from Apocalypse Now, I'll be cool with it.

I'm a bit annoyed that I wasn't consulted about flyd's latest story. I would like to be privy to any stories concerning my character.

It was pretty clearly a dream set in the future, dreamed by Isaakios in the present. I don't see your point.

I saw that AG, and then I watched that below average Redskins D stall the Giants drive after drive. Plenty of yards, solid running game, and yet not enough punch to put a bad team down. The Giant's short passing game was unsteady all night, and killed drives the whole second half.

On the other side, Jason Campbell looked scared after the first quarter, and Clinton Portis looked frustrated. Can't help but think the 'skins are short on leadership. Twice they had good chances to go for it on 4th and short and they punked out with the game on the line.

I could not have summarized better. Campbell can't get the clock management figured out he is too slow or too fast. He just does not look comfortable continuing from last year.

I agree for the most part. But it's week one. Who's going to dominate in this league week in week out?

I was happy with our D the whole game and with our O for the first half. I'll take that on week one anytime. Even more pertinent was that the D has 5 new starters and they were much better than the O. I see the O getting better over time.

The second half drives were killed by the two sacks and the INT.

They have to be enacted by a CA first. I posted that so that we can start discussing it, with an expected implementation at the next Senate session (1140 AD).

I only caught a bit of the third quarter. Did McDougle (the new DE) do anything?

Ahh, but I don't expect dominance, especially not within your division. I do expect, however, consistency, and IMHO the Giants offense lacked it last night, especially in their short passing game. I would argue that both sacks were set up by the lack of success passing against the middle of the 'skin's D, though it's always a matter of interpretation so I may just be pushing an agenda.

All that being said, a W is a W the world around. Everything else is just prep work for the next game. And, of course, I'm not a Giants or Redskins fan, so I look for what makes them beatable more than what makes them good.

I sincerely hope that Jason Campbell gets it together. I think he's got a solid arm and with some consistent coaching he could be a good QB. Somehow I'm not sure he'll find anything worth the name 'consistent' while he's on Chainsaw Dan's team though.

As an early warning, I will be on vacation in Italy from September 18th through October 2nd. I'm sure I could find internet access while over there if I wanted to, but I don't particularly want to. So, I will almost certainly be completely AWOL for those two weeks. While I am gone, GeneralHankerchief will be filling in as GM.

Yes I realize that but it was his language maybe I can get online. That's not good for a man that needs a vacation. It's taking the 2 weeks to get into vacation mode and go. Enjoying your time away and living in the moment, Italian food, wine and scenery. A nice combination to disconnect from the world.

Very true. He should totally disconnect. Luckily for him, he doesn't have an avatar. It seems that when players with avatars take a vacation, they come back to find that their vassal massacred 6000 people or that their super secret plan to become a dictator got published in the Magnaura Times.

I've been to Italy before, but this is my wife's first trip so we're keeping it simple with Rome and Florence. I'm mainly a 'cultural' tourist, in that I like sitting in cafes, drinking wine and eating food most of the time, but you do have to see the 'sights' the first time you go to a place, so we've got to do the usual for my wife's sake. We've got a nice rooftop flat rented for about 10 days in Rome and the rest in a decent hotel in Florence.

For next year we're thinking Bordeaux, though I keep yearning for spring in the English countryside. That was going to be our destination this year, but at the time we were ready to buy the plane tickets the exchange rate kept us away. That entire trip was going to planned around a night at the Fat Duck. We'll get there sometime.

The Fat Duck now that sounds like my kind of place. We had planned a September trip to Britain it would have been my first trip over there and I wanted to see castles and drink in every Fat Duck, Skinny Goose or Drinking Ewes establishment but something else came up we decided to pursue so I will have to wait a bit more. Well get there sometime soon... I have worked too hard to keep waiting.

Can someone tell me if you can hit Esc to save on the game on the sack/occupy scroll ?

Cairo is a victory but I'd like to be able to save on that screen before deciding what I should do with it...

EDIT : the reason I'm asking is that when it revolted and kicked us out that killed around 6000 people or near enough, so PO shouldn't be a problem to occupy it but sacking should net around 18000 florins... Cruel dilemma...

I'm sorry if that sounds like meta-gaming (and maybe is) but I'd like to know beforehand what I'm to expect before I get kicked out a second time because we can't keep order...
