    Righto Grandpa

I think I read in one of the Empire previews that they are adding in a "get off my land" diplomatic offer/thingy. I personally think they should adopt an EU3 aproach, where other nations can only move onto your lands if they are at war or have military access...I feel that military access is extremely pointless in M2, especially as your relations with factions have little effect on anything crucial to gameplay.

Hmm play modded, then the relations do have an impact

Get off my land would be an interesting feature in that regard, but the target faction could just say "whatever, i won't get off your land, come and get me!" though?

That's the idea, Military access in MII is totally useless. That feature would be very welcome.

Then they are being unreasonable and that should count as a declearation of war.

These "grey areas" as far as who the aggressor is needs to be something the other AI factions also take into consideration.

Depending upon all of the factors in the current campaign (alliances, former wars, current wars, ...everything) coalitions should be formed based off of how they view the events unfolding and how they want to get involved.

Economic sanctions, Naval attacks/blockades, sending soldiers off to be commanded by an ally faction in their own war, full blown military involvement etc- should all be options that any faction can contemplate regarding how involved they get.

I recall reading about a "get off my lands" diplomatic option in Empire as well.

The fact is that Empire needs to have the most advanced, intelligent, reactive AI ever seen in a strategy game. That time period combined with the current engine and all of the work it's received, along with real time naval battles - demands an AI that will have even veteran players involved in brain busting strategic, logistical and diplomatic situations again and again.

It cannot fail to deliver this.

Never underestimate this companys ability to fail when it comes to AI...

I mean seriosly, what other company would DARE ship a game with passive AI? Kudos for having the guts to do so...
