    Default Gameroom Chess Tourney?

    Idea would be to get 32 or 64 and then do a tourney. Each pair does a best of three and winner advances. Play by PM, EM, or chat with both players reporting results. Semi's and Finals played in the thread with others allowed to comment -- but not coach.

    Tournament Pairings.

    Unable to establish single elimination bracketing without a ridiculous number of byes. Therefore, we will proceed in pseudo World Cup format. All assignments were made using random number sequences generated by random.org.

    4 Groups will be established and players will play two games against each member of their group. Players will decide the format of their match (web, pbem, pbchat, ftf) between themselves. Both players will report the results of their games to the thread. Players earn 2 points for a win, and 1 point for a draw. The highest two point scorers from each group will then play a "1st to achieve 2 wins" to determine the group winner. The high score takes white in the first game, then players alternate until a conclusion is reached.

    The Group A winner will face the Group C winner in a semi-final "1st to achieve 2 wins" match. Initial color determined by coin flip or other mutually acceptable manner. Again both players report results.

    The Group B winner will face the Group D winner in a semi-final "1st to achieve 2 wins" match. Rest as for A v C.

    The Final will be a "1st to achieve 2 wins" match between the winners of the semi-final round. Finals games will be played in the thread with players submitting moves alternately. The losers of the semi-final rounds can play a "Bronze" match or just skip it and head to the pub at their discretion.

    Group Play:

    You will have one week to conclude your 2 games with your 1st group opponent (one as each color). Subsequent pairings must complete in 4 days (we'll have our systems down by then and can speed up).

    Within each group, the order of play will be as follows:

    1st pairing: N1 v N4, N2 v N5, N3 v N6.
    2nd pairing: N1 v N5, N2 v N6, N3 v N4.
    3rd pairing: N1 v N6, N2 v N3, N4 v N5.
    4th pairing: N1 v N2, N3 v N5, N4 v N6.
    5th pairing: N1 v N3, N2 v N4, N5 v N6.

    Group A: Results

    D5 = GH 0-2-0
