I have no idea why but I just wondered about how much water/non-alcoholic liquid we should drink each day, so I googled it and it said 8 glasses minimum?!?!
I kind of OCD'ed on my diet since I made myself ill in the past, and now the only liquid I take in each day is 4 mugs of tea, one at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and supper respectively.
Thinking about it, I do feel tired a lot of the time but I always attributed this to other things.
Is my daily water consumption dangerously low? Would I feel better if I drank more???
What do the Orgah's think...
8 8oz glasses is to much. Thats just scare tactics buy the bottled water people. Drink when you are thirsty and drink more than tea. Its not even proper tea

8 glasses a day for me, at minimum. Easy to get here at UNI, and I'm really trying to get myself healthier.
edit: I should mention, we have a water dispenser at the cafeteria, as well as water fountains in all the halls. No bottled water for me.

Like, 9 bottles a day, I have become a water bottle drinking fiend!
Will it give me cancer?

Yes, that or your sinful music

I should've been more clear 8 glasses isnt "to much" in the sense that it'll harm you its to much in the sense that you'll be ok if you dont. In short dont stress over it.

When I'm at home I drink 4 or so glasses plus the water in my coffee (Another 2 or so glasses, but do they count?).
When I have work I go through another 4 glasses.

Damn! I had begun writing my will, to the tune of "Strike For The South, the Texan, shall recieve my entire Bloc Party collection and shall sing along with it for five weeks", it would be worth clocking it for IMHO.
Arach, I had never considered the water used for my numerous coffees alegitimate source of health and vitality!
Do you think the ice in one of my numerous Saturday night drinks count? If so, I could be the healthiest person in NZ.
You put ice in alcohol?

An interesting article at
snopes.com that dispels the myth that we need 8-10 glasses of water per day. Remember that we also get water from food.
Also, three cheers for being in the clear:

Strike my friend, I give you
Sex on Acid
You can't NOT try this one. Offer it to everyone else just to get a reaction!
1 part Jagermeister
1/2 oz Midori melon liqueur
1/2 oz black raspberry liqueur
1/2 oz pineapple juice
1/4 oz cranberry juice
Shake ingredients with ice and then serve as a shot.

I can see that tasting really good, not to mention getting you hammered.
Since it's on tap I drink a hell of a lot of it, don't drink much else at all really.

Good God, you are a brave man, I expect a run down of the results, they should be painful.
FactionHeir 23:39 11-10-2008
About half to a full carton of fruit juice a day + 1/3 to 1/2 of a 1.5 liter water bottle (have hard water and no filters)
Btw, there is such a thing like overhydration which can kill.

I expect we'll get a "I vomited 12 times in three hours... Awesome." thread.

Wiki says a brain is just over 1000 cubic centimetres, so you get about a litre in there.
Veho Nex 03:34 11-11-2008
Me I drink on average a gallon of water every 12 hours or so
Edit: of course over time not all at once.

Myself; inhouse about three large mugs of tea a day, little if any water, as its absolutely hideous here; central Arizona. When doing field work, which can be as many as one to five days a week, from one to two gals of water, bottled of course, in ten to twelve hrs. Knowing ones water use in the field is somewhat important here. Which reminds me, its tea time.

You should judge your water intake by what it produces, i.e. urine. Your urine should be "Clear and Copious." It also shouldn't have much of an odor.
If you are feeling fatigued, it could actually be the amount of caffeine you are taking in. Your body will go on withdrawals from this drug, like any other. You might try slipping in some nice fruit juice, especially cranberry. This may help to subdue the kidney stones your heading for with your current regiment of liquids.
pevergreen 08:52 11-11-2008
I'd say about 500ml at breakfast, during the day about a litre then about 500ml at dinner of Cordial (1-6 parts ratio in favour of water) then about 250 before bed.
1 - 1,5 liters of pure water or something like that. A lot more if you count tea.
A glass or two a day, the rest is Apple Juice and a bit of Lactose-Free Milk. Proably should drink more water

..

Tea is very high in Oxalate, which can be a leading factor in kidney stone production.
In addition to a can of pop and 1-2 glasses of juice and/or milk, I probably drink around 10 half-glasses of water a day. Unless I've been involved in a strenuous physical activity (running, moving boxes/furniture, etc.), I usually can't down an entire glass of water at once.

Indeed. I don't remember if it was from last year or earlier this year, but there was an incident in Washington State where a participant in a radio contest died from drinking too much water.
