Default I have found my new passion

Constitutional law. All I have been doing today is go to class, eat, post here, and look up court cases where power hungry demagogues perverted my beloved constitution to the point where it almost holds no value.

is there any hope for me in the job market?
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

The US constitution is overrated. America is a girlie Republic.

Men don't cry before a court if they want their constitution explained according to the latest fad. Real men simply make amendments. And really real men change the constitution altogether.

Of course, really hardy men don't even lower themselves to such lowly tasks as rewriting constitutions. They simply forge themselves a new Republic. Fifth amendment? Pft. We discuss Fifth Republics.

Job market? Well, IIRC, Obama studied constitutional law while at Harvard.

I hate to point this out, but the last person to really talk about forming a new republic wasn't a man, and she lost the presidential election. Also, the current republic was sort of shoved down the people's throats by a power hungry war hero.

If you can ever bring yourself to leave your beloved Texas, come to DC, Strike. There are plenty of lawyers specializing in that sort of thing. As a matter of fact, right now I'm interning at the Committee for Justice, an organization dedicated to putting judges that follow the Constitution on the bench and fighting decisions that go against said document.

Well there are 42 current openings at the Federal District and Appelate level for judgeships. I have a suspicion that none of Bush's 26 nominees thereto are going to get tapped. Of course, you might have trouble getting the Bar Association to give you their rec'

Of course its a viable career field, Strike, but the process is long. You're talking college, 3 years of law school, 2 years clerking, 1 year specialized law follow on schooling; most of which will have to be completed prior to any real lucrative work.

Just asking, Strike, but are you in high school or college? If it is the latter, have you thought of studying Constitutional Law if your college has it?

Maybe look into getting a job with either the ACLU or the EFF. After that, see if you can get corporate personhood revoked, and start up a repeal of the 17th Amendment.

I always had a slight preference for parliamentary systems, but I agree that the current French setup is interesting and surprisingly workable. I can't wait to find out what the Sixth and Seventh Republics will look like!

Well, I've been making a living at it for the last 15 years or so. Its an OK life, if you like wall to wall hookers and making corporate lawyers cry like babies.

For a thousand years now, whenever we think we've got it made and we are the envy of the world at last, as ought to be our natural position amongst man, along comes floating somebody from that cursed, perfidious island to spoil it all.

Will the pain and suffering never end?
