stoichiometry

stoichiometry. my new subject that i hate the most.
or would that be under Chemistry?
anyhow, as most know, I HATE CHEMISTRY!

the current science teacher is quitting at the end of the year, and we already know who the replacement is. normally this would be a good thing, but not in this case. while our old teacher was pretty easy-going and we joked around in class, the new one is very strict.
but thats not the main problem. the new teacher is an Italian immigrant. now, i have nothing against italians and they make great pasta, but this one has a very thick italian accent and i just cant understand what she is saying. to make matters worse, its hard to hear her, because her voice is soft.
well, at least i finished all 3 science credits neede do graduate: bio last year, chemistry and forensics this year.

One of the subjects I miss the most. (Chemistry, Stoichiometry is section of Chemistry after all.)

Though sorry for you. I really really hate law class, while some of my classmates seem to love.

I don't understand why people study sciences... seriously take history or something where you write essays, it's so much easier, and I don't just think that it's because I'm naturally good at them.

HCl + Na2CO3 --> NaCl + H2O + CO2

C2H5OH + KMnO4 --> CH3COOH + MnCl2 (Acidic condition, use HCl)

P2O5 + H2O --> H3PO4

I know what you mean about Italian teacher, unfortunately, we had it worse.

We had no physic teacher at all, then we got one for 2 hours every 2 weeks. (the other teachers were like a year9 chemistry teacher, teaching A level physics...)

The problem with him, he has the thickest Greek accent I ever heard and he spoke half the class in Greek. He would interchangeably use English and Greek and we were all sat there wondering what is going on.

I always flunked the terms when they gave questions related to stoichiometry....buuuut then I never was good with numericals and chemical reactions.........good luck to you though

Essays are the bane of my existance, I loath essays the writing that goes into them, all the grammar, havard refrencing (hell!) biblographys... Introductions, Conclusions, logical essay structure...

Apart from that I quite enjoy history and politics... would have been great subjects for me barring the essays...

Chemistry was a little too wordy for my liking as well...

Ugh I hate maths. It's OK when it's sums and all, but when it gets advanced and they start asking me to actually think and do all this problem solving... sorry no thanks.

Essays are dead simple, same every time. What to do is make four of five good points, write them down on paper with a few bullet points of more detailed stuff on each. Sum up the five main points in the intro, same for the conclusion, and just write out your notes in between!

My problem with essays is probably fairly clear from the way i write, my mind is constantly a jumble of the various things related to whatever im writing on at the time... this stops my thoughts going in a coherent order and manages to obscure whatever points im trying to make...

I can of course work on it (over and over) until it is sorted and im sure i would get it right with a bit of work... but then im guessing thats the same for you with maths... just seems like hard work and isn't enjoyable compared to essay writing...

Just to let you know, Hooahguy, Italians can also do other things very well. Making great pasta is just one of our many talents. ;)

Stiochiometry was my favorite part of chemistry. I remember I aced the exam for that portion of the class, and nailed every single AP question dealing with the material. I always enjoyed this kind of lab work.

Sucks that you have a bad teacher. My Senior year of High School, I had the best chemistry teacher ever, Mr. Michel. I swear, if this guy wasn't teaching Chemistry he would have been the lead singer for an L.A. Hardcore Punk band; the dude was awesome.

In one of our labs, I remember that some girl made a terrible error in her mixing, whereupon she timidly called to Mr. Michel for help. Mr. Michel walked up to the table, took one look at what she had done, then looked at the girl and asked her, "Are you on crack?!" The whole class (including the girl, thankfully) burst out into laughter. Another time, we were discussing the difference between suspensions and colloids and Mr. Michel asked us, as a quick gimme quiz, if milk was a colloid or a suspension, but nobody was willing to answer the question. He looked at us incredulously and said, "If your milk settles, that's disgusting. I mean, if you pour out a glass of milk and there's crap floating to the bottom of the glass, that's just gross."

Best chemistry class ever, hands down.
