Kudos to Shadowwalker ! Those are the Hoplitai Epilektoi.

My wild guess would be - since Gustave hinted about a greek elite unit - either the Thorakitai Hoplitai (although I thought they didn't wear leather, have to re-check this) or Epilektoi Hoplitai (although leather makes even less sense in that case....)
Seems I'm not even nearly educated enough for this. :D

can't help it but i prefere the EB 1 models, the White/Dark-red colors looked better in my opinion
the shields are badass however! absolutely superb

True EB ones were very flashy, but these really say "we are veterans been through hell", the others said "we can afford shiny gear" :D

Great work there.
The level of detail you people manage to present with your units is .... [insert fitting word here, I'm speechless].
Especially the slightly worn/battered shields that bear marks of previous fights.
I've said it a few times already and I gladly repeat myself: EB II is sooo worth the wait.
(I expect the first version to be out not before Spring 2014 by the way but that's alright. First I wait seven years, then I will be busy playing this game at least ten years. Sounds fair. )

Thanks for that hint. :) But even with that knowledge I am confused there. For my eyes this scabbard is "turned into the wrong direction" somehow. *scratches head*

@Gustave (again):
May I perhaps ask for a slightly larger part of the pic you posted as a teaser, just to be able to see that sword a bit better?

I know what you mean. The EB I Hoplitai Epilektoi were just because of the model and colours one of my favourite units (although I never played a KH campaign successfully).
But I have to say that this new version is at least (!) on par.

Hehe I'm glad you like them ! The modeler (JMRC) also deserves a round of applause (and Alin as well, as a this model uses a lot of model parts he created).
Concerning the shield paintings, I heard it was common for rich people to pay an artist to paint the shields. Therefore the paintings look better than average units.

I agree, the shields are amazing, the centaur one is my favorite as well. One thing I noticed in the teaser pic is the amount of detail that is put into the skins, like the stitching on the shield, that's something you miss in the renders and screenshots which are zoomed out more.

I love the first shield on the left where it shows an hoplite killing a gaesatae! The texture work and the models are both amazing work of art, the EB team is indeed pushing the engine to the limit.

Totaly agreed! And the 1st one realy looks like a hardened veteran, it looks that he could kill one person just by staring!

Those faces, especially the first one are so realistic its incredible!

Also, from the first shield, we now know how the dying Gaul was killed.

The hoplite killing the Gaul is actually Ares

The shield designs looks wikid! Amazing detail
