    I'm waiting for Tristan to show up and shot me the save. Then OK and I will go collect the mugshots so I can post them.

    We are waiting on a final verison of the mod and the spawning of RGBs in 1081, as well as a draft order, before character selection can happen.

    Once RGBs have spawned and the save is available, TheFlax and I will then post pics of the characters in the selection thread. I'm currently at work with a training in the morning that will take up the next 12 hours of my life, so my availability to take and upload pics will be compromised for much of Wednesday.

    I'm fine really. The stories have already kicked off so the shenanigans have already started.

    Can't wait to blow the doors off this character.

    -EDIT-

    Apologies for my insensitivity as I do have a character. Still chatting about the type of person to play is also a fun time. GH and I have had a pretty amusing time already.

    As soon as TheFlax and I get the save for 1081 with the RGBs present. One caveat, if the save comes in when I'm asleep or at work (or both), there will be a delay on my end.

    Last I heard, Zim and Tristan were both trying to get the hotseat option working so that direct control of AI factions remained an option for Event purposes. I think as soon as that issue is sorted out that the avatars will be spawned and the game will start moving.

    It's been TWO MINUTES since we got that last update. Well, is it sorted out yet? Can we finally move on?

    New update : the hotseat function and every else works fine. Save is ready to be posted with one caveat : the hotseat function when hiting end turn make the strat map fade to black so as to hide the AI moves.

    So if we choose to play hotseat, we'll be playing blind... totally...

    Is that what we want ? I understand that showing AI moves was a prerequisite so I'll wait for some input before uploading the save...

    Permanent ? Only thing I can tell you is that it fades to black at the end of the turn, and you get the start screen just like in any hotseat but without password.

    One more thing : how does defensive battles play out in hotseat against the AI. Does the player get to fight them or not ?

    That's not true. LotR was played with hotseat enabled. There were plenty of defensive battles in LotR.

    I'm sure there was a way to enable the player to play defensive battles against the AI but it is so long since I've played those games that I can't remember...

    If it proves to be impossible, I think we'll be forced to do without, the console will have to suffice for the purpose of events.

    Yes but LotR saves hdidn't have the start screen I get in KotF... Some variable must be different...

    There's some extra fiddling that has to be done to enable defensive battles in hotseats. Presumably that also fixes whatever is going on with your start screens. All we have to do is dig around in old threads to figure out what needs to be changed.

    The LotR Installation Thread has all the discussion on this. According to that thread, this should allow defensive battles:

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    [hotseat]
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 0
    disable_papal_elections = 0
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 1
    validate_diplomacy = 1
    turns = false
    scroll = false
    You also have to make sure that after you make the changes that the file is marked "read only" so that it doesn't get changed back.

    While we're sorting out the technical details can we begin avatar selection? We need to establish characters, families, oaths of fealty, and etc. before the game begins. The players need to do their own pregame setup.

    Right now we can't do anything and should at least have our characters.

    Keep the troops busy!

    Avatars can't be spawned until the hotseat issue is fixed, because the game has to started with hotseat properly configured from turn 1. You cannot enable hotseat in a game that has already started.

    I've done all the tweaking that Tincow pointed at earlier but it hasn't solved anything, I still get a black screen on end turn (fade to black while the AI makes its moves) and the defensive battles are auto-resolved against us...

    Can anybody try and fuddle with the cfg file and see how it works for them ? It's quite possible I didn't quite mod it like it should...

    Sorry to keep you all in the black on that but we have to make sure everything works before the start... It would be a big let-down if we had to start over after having played 5,10 or 20 turns before finding out that something doesn't quite work as it should.

    On a more positive note, the age mod as tested by Cecil seems to be working, at least avatars do not seem to fall like flies in the first few turns of the game.:2thumsup:

    In the meantime, maybe Zim could draw up the draft list so that people can get an ida of when their turn will come to choose their avatars...

    I can almost feel that anticipation building up
