YLC, are you done with the save?
The King and Alain are having a fight, so I'd like access to it soon.![]()
I see one way of getting out of this conundrum about army ownership in conquered towns. It needs to distinguish two cases :
1 - you take the city during the turn then if you fear your army may be seized, you should use the save to leave the city during the turn (with th risks of rebellion that entails...) or it becomes the part of the King's Demesne. Unless you decide to defy the King...
2 - you take the city at the end of the turn, or on the AI's turn (sally, ...), then you have a free turn to move out of the city before the King can claim ownership of the city. Then we fall back to same principle as explained above.

On a side note : wasn't Gaetan de Rethel already sworn to House de Lorraine ? Hasn't he now de facto broken his oath ?

Option 1 is what I thought about Tristan.
That could lead to a lot of provinces turning rebel very quickly. It's a good problem to have don't get me wrong, but unless you trust your King () why would you take the risk?
This would curtail expansion, another good thing, but it really is a conundrum.
I think the easiest method of fixing this problem with a minimum of complexity is just to give a person a single turn to vacate a freshly conquered settlement before the army ownership rule comes into play. Here is an example that would best fit as an addition to Rule 5 (b):
When a province is added to the King's Demense, the owner of any units inside the settlement has one full turn to move the units out of the settlement before Rule 5 (a) comes into effect.
I like TC's refinement - and also Ituralde's prohibition of quickly changing standing orders to "trap" armies.
There's a procedural issue about how we handle questions like this (including the changing vote in a poll question etc). They are rather too minor to warrant their own OOC rules change poll, IMO. We could just leave them to convention and/or Zim's good judgement but I think it would be good - including for potential future games - if they were written up. What I am wondering if whether TC or somene would be willing to keep track of these kind of rules clarifications and periodically work with Zim to "tidy up" the rules so that they incorporate them? TC did this just before the start of the game and there would be some virtue in continuing this. If there's serious objection to some changes, we can always organise a rules change poll, but typically I think we could find a consensus.
I think so - I guess the onus is on OK as to whether he wants to do anything about it. It may just be an amicable separation.Originally Posted by Tristan

I'll be catching up with my correspondence whe I get to work. I'll also be adding some of the interesting discussions we've been having in the Conseil to the history.

I had originally imagined provinces to be under the control of the person who conquered them until they were ratified at the next Council session, like YLC believed, but last time this came up I remember more people thought of the shift of control as instantaneous. It also wouldn't help people who conquered pre-ratified settlements, either.
I think it's reasonable for people to have at least until the end of the turn to move their men. I could put it up to vote as a rule change if people would like.
I'll start getting rid of the inactive avatars within day or so. I was trying to hold out to see if anyone was returning, but it's time.
Charles will be held for anyone who would like to take him.In the meantime Seneschals are welcome to move him a bit if staying put will result in bad traits.

Kermit's made a TWS2 guide? Oh, the other frog....
@GH, for years I go by what shows up in the campaign screen of the game, not the loading screen. I beleive the difference is an artifact of going from 2 year turns in vanilla to 1.5 year turns in LTC.

Ah, that would explain it then.

The save will be reclaimed in about 10 hours or whenever I wake up and have a pot of coffee.
At the moment I am very tired, which might explain my last Conseil post. All meant in jest, sort of an antithesis of my previous terms as a Chancellor/Megas.![]()

Back from Andalusia. Loved it. Going to Antwerp to a concert tomorrow evening, so I'll try to catch up on Saturday.

I'm confused.
I open up the latest save, TheFlax's KotF-1099-12, and I get this pop-up:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I don't remember our standing being that high, and I don't get mid-turn pop ups very often. So, I go back through all the saves for the turn because I'm paranoid.
This is our standing before I hit end turn in 1098:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This is our standing at the beginning of 1099:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
And this is our standing at the end of the same turn:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Now in 1098, I arranged to pay the Pope 500 florins a turn for 8 turns. And while I expected a gradual rise in our rep, I didn't expect it to rise (twice!) during a turn.
Anyone have an explanation for this? Is this the cumalative effect of passing the save back and forth? Is it resetting the AI that calculates the relations each time? Is someone monkeying with the save?
I have no idea.

Well, I had the save fairly late and I didn't get it.
Maybe it was the marriage that somehow did it? Not sure.

Flax married this dude, where is he from?
If it's a nation in favour with the Pope, then perhaps it's a secondary effect of our standing going up with this faction.
*snigger* whilst loosing our Princess is, honestly, a pain (liked her independant)...now the Pope LOVES US!!!
England...feck off!We is coming ta get ya (perhaps...if everyone else agrees...with a following wind...downhill...if we have the florins...if we have the men....

Are things going to be a little delicate while Andres and Marcus move out of England?
Posted an explanation as to why our standing has gone up with the Pope.

I've moved the unit from Bruges to Paris in my last move as I considered it to be before the hand out to Alain.
