    Smile Man on the Moon

I would like to honor Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins. These men sacrificed for their country and went further than no man before. also a big thank you to Nasa for their commitment to the apollo program. May these men never be forgotten for their contribution to America and honestly to the rest of the world as well.

Please do not turn this into some sort of bash or rant about how the moon landings were a fraud, i will respect your views if you respect mine.

Hehe, Michael. Never knew his name before, funny how everyone remembers the first man, and the one who should have been first, but not him.

I heard on the radio today that 7 years or so after the landings Buzz Aldrin was working in a car showroom. As mad as your trousers full of ferrets.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

I think it a very romantic thought that man walked on the moon. Somehow, everything has not been the same anymore.

And not just the moon. The pictures they shot of the earth! Suddenly, there it is. A blue ball, both splendid and vulnerable, a lone spaceship. What a metaphysical earthquake! Go to the moon, and discover the earth.

(As for 'sacrifice' though, these men had glamorous jobs that millions would've taken on. Fame and eternity is not a sacrifice. Sacrificing is what the taxpayers did.)

Not quite what I meant, everyone remembers Neil obviously because he walked on it first and everyone remebers Buzz because he should have been first, but no one knows Mick.

Everyone remembers one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind

but do they remember when he said good luck mr. gorsky... and do they know the story behind that?

I will elaborate on it if you guys want me to, the story is quite funny!

I remember Neil Armstrong (but i find people tend to confuse him with louis armstrong), I remember Buzz aldrin of course, but Collins i think is sadly forgotten.

And i do think it is a sacrifice, the death rate for astronauts is 20%. And these days they barely make more money than their equivalent rank flying normal jets. Remember Challenger, columbia, Gemini I, the Mercury programs "mistakes"

It's actually been over 35 years. There were 6 landings the first obviously in '69 and the last in '72. Going there is just too expensive to justify, what else could really be achieved by landing on the moon again?

I sincerely hope that one day in the future, they'll be almost completely forgotten and be nothing but an historical anecdote. Otherwise, the space future looks pretty grim.

Look up the video on Youtube of Buzz Aldrin punching some dumb **** who accosts him with that garbage about the lunar landing being faked. Always gives me a laugh.

We don't go to the moon anymore because the future is open space. What's the point of desperately expending energy to get out of our gravity well only to fall back into another one where there's no fuel or practical resources?

It would be easy to find out.
Just make another trip and document it sufficiently. Orbit around the moon with high resolution cameras and take close-ups from the Apollo sites. I bet there are still some footprints and flags there.

I wanted to send a message to my teacher who absolutely loves the space race concerning it's fraud just to annoy him. Sadly I was in Krakow (a lovely city) when this was going on.

Photographs from NASA's latest moon probe, LRO, shows the Apollo 11 landing site and the Apollo 11 lander:

Of course, this wouldn't necessarily be enough evidence for doubters; if things were faked, they could perfectly well still be.

    I envy them too.

Knowing that there such a huge world waiting for us, and that I'll never be able to visit it sometimes turns me mad. What a sad period we live in: we discover new things about our universe every day but we have no means to actually visit it.
So many possibilites for mankind, and I won't witness any of them.

Let's honor Laïka aswell. The poor thing was sent in space while the whole team knew she would not and could not come back alive. She died from stress a few hours after the launch, but official propaganda explained that she lived a few days in space.

Take the lead then. If you think men have to die to explore space and then complain that nobody has the balls to do it, your logical choice would be to join the NASA and join a dangerous mission.
