Seneschal's Report for 1107
Current Events
I have taken Nuremburg:
The town was sacked for 1694 florins. Leaving a company of militia as a garrison, I marched back to the west.
Our spy infiltrated Nottingham, but King William fled north to York.
The Moorish army that appeared in our heartland has marched east into Milanese territory and is now out of view.
The Germans have moved to the walls of Antwerp and a large army from Hamburg has moved southwest and is close to Prince Henri.
A great portion of the Pamplona garrison has moved north out of our view.
I will provide further detail in the Military Affairs section.
Barbus Selvo has an adoption offer.
The Pope, he never seems content, is pushing for another Church:
The rioting in Valencia continues:
Also it appears the mustering hall there was damaged when the rioting broke out last year. (OOC: Due to the AI turn exchange of saves, I didn't get a pop up last year.)
Domestic Affairs
Barbus Selvo and Princess Constance are currently approaching the Realm's Mediterranean coast. The Royal couple may want to decide where they wish to land.
Several projects have been finished:
In addition, a Stable was ordered for Caen, Land Clearance for Staufen and Communal Farming for Toulouse. The goal of all this is to increase our military capacity and ability to quickly move armies.
Some of our nobles have gained recognition:
Foreign Affairs
An Egyptian diplomat approached us regarding a possible trade agreement, in accordance with Amendment 1.2 I told him to convert to the one true Faith or shove off.
I have begun sending feelers out toward the Germans concerning a possible peace agreement. The offer of Nuremburg, trade rights and maps in return for peace was considered balanced, but was rejected by the Germans. We may have to offer generous terms for them to accept.
Peter Scherer, the Imperial Cardinal, is dead.
Military Affairs
Angers has fallen to Duc Alain.
The depleted cavalry companies in Toulouse have been brought up to strength. A company of peasants was recruited as well to serve as a garrison.
A company of militia was mustered in Zaragoza.
At the King's request, a company of Armoured Spearmen were raised at Caen.
At Staufen, I recruited a company of peasants to serve as a garrison. Archers were recruited for Raymond and a company of Mounted Sergeants for Prince Henri.
Another company of Militia was raised at Dijon.
Iberia:
The Moors have not moved. Valencia is rioting and still threatened. The English army that disappeared north of Pamplona might be trying to make an end run on Bordeaux, or they could be taking ship. I do not know because of the fog of war.
England:
The large army that was west of York has moved to Nottingham. King William is now alone in York. My guess is that the English are trying to surround the Order and the King. Of course our Monarch could kill them all with two nags and a sharp stick, but they don't know that.
Germany:
Antwerp is threatened as is Prince Henri. A German army seems to be marching through the Alps to relieve Bern.
Recommendations
The threat from the Moors has lessened, but that huge army in Italy may return. With all our lands in France recovered we are now free to box in the English at Pamplona. They have split their army, perhaps we can take advantage of this, or perhaps it is a trap.
The German thrust at Antwerp must be dealt with.
I would suggest bringing our campaigns in Germany and England to a quick resolution so we can deal with the Moors and any other surprises that may come.
Duc Raymond, if you cannot resolve the siege of Bern, you will most likely be attacked by the end of this season. What do you wish to do?
Prince Henri, whatever plans you have for the Germans, get cracking, I intend to make peace with the Germans as soon as we have a strong negotiating position.
With the move of King William to York and the lessening of the Moorish threat, are we still set on a Moorish Crusade?
