Seneschal's Report for 1108
Current Events
Gaeten de Rethel has crushed the English relief army at Pamplona and taken the castle. The victory came at a heavy cost, Yvon Lacaze was sacrificed for the victory. He fought valiantly and will be missed.
Baron Thomas de Saint-Amand heroically repulsed a German attack near Magdeburg.
Due to the chaos of these battles some of my reports were not received. (OOC: I didn't get building or recruitment pop-ups due the save being handed around during the AI turn.)
Prince Henri has an offer of marriage:
A cousin perhaps? I leave it to him to accept or decline.
Domestic Affairs
Roads were built for Bern, Land Clearance for Zaragoza and Metz and a Chapel for Bordeaux.
Foreign Affairs
At Riga, one of our diplomats sold the Rus trade rights and maps for 1000 florins. The offer was barely accepted.
Military Affairs
King Philippe and the Order crushed the English outside Nottingham and have sieged the castle.
Bern has fallen to Duc Raymond.
Barbus Selvo and Princess Constance came ashore in the port near Toulouse. Our galley fleet has taken shelter there as a larger German fleet is off the coast of Iberia.
I drove off some brigands near Metz, but they fled into the woods across the Moselle and then disappeared. I am now at the Moselle ford south of Metz.
Prince Henri is advancing on Hamburg and Thomas de Saint-Amand on Magdeburg. Both men are stretching their supply lines. I have recruited two units of spear militia in Frankfurt to reinforce them. I'll let them sort out who gets what.
A company of spear militia was recruited in Antwerp to stiffen the garrison. Another company of militia was recruited in Zaragoza.
Iberia:
The Moors have not moved. Rioting in Valencia has stopped. The ransomed English army is still near Pamplona. A German fleet is off the coast.
England:
Another English army, this one from the south, has moved to challenge the King. William remains in York.
Germany:
We close on Magdeburg and Hamburg, but Antwerp and Bern are threatened.
Recommendations
The German menace around Antwerp must be removed. If Gaspard de Neufville cannot rouse himself, I will do it myself. Though I am two seasons away.
We must remove the English from the continet. The ponces should stay on their island.
Duc Raymond, my thanks for taking Bern. Do you feel up to crushing that relief force?
Prince Henri and Thomas de Saint-Amand, you are both extending yourselves. This is risky. Reinforcements are coming your way, but you both face garrisons larger than your own forces. Consider your next moves carefully.
The Crusade issue still twists in the wind. We are close to a new session, should it wait a bit more?
Should we have peace with Germany now, or if Magdeburg and Hamburg fall?
Please bring suggestions, comments and troop requests to the Conseil.
