Gah! If the GOP actually followed the fiscal conservative, small government front it used to put up and ditched the fringe wackos, Republican would be the choice. But they are both cheeks of the sameas it were, so Gah! it is.

The Republicans want nothing, but power. The Democrats want everything, as long as they don't have to pay for it. Both sides are as neutered as my dog, and not nearly as fun to talk about.
Two Eunuchs walked into a bar, one a Democrat, the other a Republican. They order their drinks and start having a discussion over tax reform, eventually the debate gets pretty heated, and the Republican gets frustrated and shouts "You Democrats want everything but haven't got the balls to just force the reform!" The Democrat then replies "well, we wanted to talk to you about that first, to make sure we were on the same page."

Perhaps you could have asked us if we were conservative or liberal? American politics are vastly different from European. A conservative in Europe, especially in regions like, say Scandinavia, would be a Democrat here...
Not to mention, I cannot answer the poll. I may be a fiscal and purely political conservative, but to say I associate myself with Republicans? Nah. I am too socially liberal and atheist for that. I would rather identify with Democrats. But I am not a Democrat. I merely view them as the lesser of two evils.
What's the difference?

The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder

Speaking of which, I have to say perhaps Ron Paul was right about readopting the gold standard after all. I know I made many lengthy and derisive arguments against a readoption of the gold standard during the US presidential primary campaign, but I have to say, almost all of the predictions made by hard-currency adovcates over the years have come to pass.
Without pointing the finger at either political party, as both engaged in this practice, the current fiscal difficulties in the United States, and the solutions they've adopted, point to what's wrong with a fiat currency system... namely governments in an attempt to placate their citizens show zero restraint on inflating their money supply, effectively devaluing currency around the world in very non-productive ways.

Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Labour etc are very much alike in that they represent the interests of a select few, i.e. the rich elites.

I have chronic and irreconcilable differences with both parties, so I register Indie.
