    Default CoD: MW2 intro discussion

Original debate started here and since there was so many replies, it could not be moved. So I am starting a new thread in here. I suggest everyone reads Subo's, CR's, PI's and my posts in the linked thread before making a post in here so we don't repeat a point that was already gone over. Debate ends on post 113 just so people don't keep reading on forever. Oh and the debate starts on post 63.

See, this is why I don't play FPS. Not my cup of tea.

Except of course, the greatest games of all time, No One Lives Forever I and II. 1960's spy spoof, fabulously stylish, and more wit and humour than you can shake a stick at.

I lost interst in the discussion in the thread after a few posts. Not my game, not my subject of conversation. There's probably a good debate in there. I mean, after all, I am here because I enjoy slaughtering thousands of little mediaeval men on a computer screen.

    Much ado about nothing.
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Looks like you need a monkey.

I couldn't agree more you simply an NOT fall in love with a shooter where you hear two evil german henchmen having a disussion about the correlation between beer consumption and criminal behaviour. And, and, and, loved it to death it was truly hilarious. Second didn't do it, dunno why, lacked the charm.

    Oh gawd.

I've never understood why people want to play the "good guy". That's boring. Let's face it; the bad guys have way more fun. Period. I've always found games like CoD lacking because of this; they lack a proper Nazi campaign. Defending places like Normandy or Netherlands/Belgium or assaulting Russia, now that would be interesting!

Keep yer political correctness away from my funz!!

But in World of War you can be a really bad goodguy, I suggest the heavier weapons for that extra heheheeatthat splut MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA diediedie. Bayonethehe *schlob*

But I have never been able to play the bad guy, there is never a good reason to be evil except for being evil. If they could add a little bit dualism, good actions having horrible consequences and a little but of evil being the proper option, knowing something in advance or something like would making evil more interesting.

In RPG games like Baldurs Gate etc, I have always enjoyed being the bad guy, and I usually fill my parties with evil NPC's... It's simply way more fun.

Oh, and I actually accepted an offer to coach Brann in FM once... Now THAT is true evil!

I always thought that a German campaign would have been great. There is a multitude of ways to do it and still be politically correct, besides. No one said that the character had to be an uber-Nazi to be German.

Also, why can't the violence level be variable??? Wouldn't that fix the problem?

I cannot for the life of me comprehend why it would be such a challenge to have one little option to tone it down. You could, for instance, disable blood or something. Or disable flying appendages.

Tons of games have been doing that for a LONG time.

    .......Why....?

Don't like it? Don't buy it. And leave those who do want it alone.

Take it easy. I'm not trying to steal your children's inheritance, I'm making a very simple suggestion that would be very easy to implement that would not even remotely effect your gaming preferences.

The point is that it's so easy to do, and it would be very nice for those people who like the game and do not like red goop flying all over the map. And those who like it can have it.

Just a matter of some simple programming and a little checkbox in the graphics menu.

Not really. Blood spurts would be simple enough, just take away the files and nothing would apppear (Although it still depends on the game's programming). But gibs are in the game's engine. There is something in the engine that tells the game to "break off that guy's leg" if he is shot there. It would be a matter of replacing models, re-coding scripts and a big fuss over something inconsequential. I fail to see how killing can be okay for someone as long as it looks pretty.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Ah; OK. A technical explenation is what I was looking for.

It's not a matter of killing being "OK," it's that I can't play if I'm nauseated.
