Greyblades is replacing someone else? But I thought his(Greyblades) character survived the attack in the last writeup....

That is something quite worrying. What I mean by that is that the dead zombie players replacing living people actually know which zombies have already infiltrated a group and where which zombie group is etc.

It's not perfect, folks. I either do this, or I allow a large chunk of the remaining living, after today's slaughter, to be statues; inactive. It's either this or nothing. The rule is that they can defend themselves but they cannot warn others or hint in any way. So if I see the group going from searching mode to vigilante mode, I'll know something is up. Frankly the game will be more interesting even from the perspective of the Omegas, because they will have some more people to hunt. They get a better score for killing people, so logically the more people they have to kill, the larger the zombie horde can become, and the more points they can get.

Anywho, I'm sensing resistance to the idea. I don't want to have to flush four people from the game right now. I can tell you that from where I sit, up here in my godlike perspective over the game, this is the best and fairest option. So I'm going forward with this, unless you guys really tell me that it can't happen. In which case, 4 peeps remain zombies and I WOG 4 players, and the living people are in for a world of hurt based simply on people not showing up, which is lame.

Dunno if it helps, but I for one have not really looked at the zombie quicktopic. I had to be inactive this phase anyway and since I was quite angry about getting killed, I did not concern myself very much with the game during this phase. In the spirit of sportsmanship, I won't look at the quicktopic now neither, as I know I will be resurrected. I hope you believe me when I say this.
And grey was also just killed this phase and as such he shouldn't have had access to the quicktopic in the first place.

That's one reason why I selected him over some other people who have died; he's the most suitable candidate.

    PROGRESS REPORT:

I've completed a meager 10 character cards. (sad face) However, what I'm doing, since I have lots of chores to do today, is I'll do a run of 10, take a break, do some chores, and then do another 10 cards, take a break, do some chores, and see if I can't do some more before bed. No promises, but once I get through the living characters, the zombies/dead should be easy.

    EDIT: UPDATED PROGRES:

I've managed to complete 20 character cards now. (yay)

    Taking a break.

    UPDATE:

I have to give my 4 replacement players their new role and character card, and I have to do all the zombie horde character cards.

But the end is in sight. I expect to be finished today.

PLEASE WAIT UNTIL THE PUBLIC WRITEUP BEFORE EXPRESSING YOUR REACTION TO THIS ROUND.

Good gravy. I hope you folks accomplish your goals, exit the town, or get consumed by zombies soon.

I also have to say, I've been broken by this game. You know your fancy schmancy character cards? I can't keep doing upwards of 60 of those every phase. It's insanity.

KEEP YOUR CHARACTER CARDS. Don't delete them. I may start just giving up "updates", which are all the relevant information you need to know, but not inserted all over the place on a character card. I'll tell you what happened, how many bullets you used, any new items, any damage, and indicate where people may be around you. But you might have to just accept that info instead of a whole character card. I can't spend 5 or so days working on these things every phase for the next 5-10 phases.

Never attempt a game this big in this style. Don't try it. Can't be done, even by me.

It could be done with the help of some programming...
You'd need to build a tool that could handle much of the manual stuff like moving players around on a grid and expose possible interactions between players. Also an auto generation of player-cards and a plug-in PM generator which sends it to your registered players.

I started to sketch up a plan for a forum site like this but with a focus on games found currently in the gameroom.
It would include most of the features you usually find in a discussion forum but with the additions of several tools that would help people play these games.
I have all the stuff at home and I can't recall all the features I would have wanted. But from the top of my head:

    • Private group lairs similar to quicktopic where players could opt to be anonymous.
    • Hosts have moderator tools available for their game thread (delete, edit posts and expel players).
    • Random.org features including role pickers and combat dice.
    • Role template builder and tools for mass sending PMs
    • Automatic voting and tallies
    • AI hosts for basic mafia games
    • Game timers/clocks
    • etc...

Great writeup ATPG and thanks for your hard work in keping this game going! Definitely HoF material (and since its running on both 09 and 10... )

Was a bit unlucky last round, didn't expect to be ambushed in stealth and not make it out due to first strike. Ah well, at least my team didn't go down without a fight

Meh, those jerks deserved to die, serves them right for chasing me, I had warned them and given them a chance to live, but they chose death instrad. Ah well, it was a fun way to go out atleast.

In retrospect if I had realised how some of the game mechanics actually worked I wouldn't have even bothered putting points into stealth.
