There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
tea hot or cold is icky. real men drink juice or milk.
Lady Grey says hello.
An absolutely lush tea.

Strike For The South;2444884]I'm trotting this bi-annual thread out because I had some of the good stuff last night.
Once again,
tea is best sweet and with ice.
Warm tea is the devils brew
If you use corn syurp instead of cane sugar your a libreal communist nazi
I bet it tastes even better with a shot or two of vodka added.

I was told that earl grey tastes like fag ash, count me out...
Ice tea is really refreshing, perfect thirst-killer when it's hot and too early for beer. Being a closet Frenchman I go for sparkled water, but there is no real shame in drinking ice tea, just a lack of cultural refinement.
This is correct. At most, it is permitted for the soldiering classes to drink stewed, sugary and lukewarm tea wherein a metal spoon will dissolve if left a moment too long so that Empires may be built and maintained correctly.
There is no advice on tea that can be properly offered by a people who insist on throwing large quantities of the stuff into harbours through pique.
I fear that your confidant may have been confused. Earl Grey's blend might conceivably be compared to drinking women's eau de toilette, but the "fag ash" slight is more likely aimed at something like Lapsang Souchong (a smoked Chinese tea of some sophistication).
"If there is a sin against life, it consists not so much in despairing as in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this one."
Albert Camus "Noces"
Who the Dickens told you that? Earl Grey is a more 'refined' flavour of tea, yes, but it hardly tastes like fag ash; it carries the distinct citrus taste of bergamot. Beats a cup of Tetley any day. :P
These two gentleman are spot-on. Lady Grey is basically a deviation of Earl Grey, with lemon and orange peel added to give the tea a stronger aroma and taste of citrus fruits. Simply divine.

Hello,
Gunpowder Tea is very good. Tea is good both hot and chilled. It's really a matter of taste.

i thought the satire was dripping off of that one.Real men don't use the word icky, nor do they think juice is a manly drink.
Im going to agree with him his people invented tea.And real gentlemen have standards, and refuse to partake in anything but the finest of Assam leaves.
As a matter of fact, I did pick up the proper way to enjoy a cup of tea from British colonials. Albeit of the loyal kind, not the unruly rabble on the wrong side of the Atlantic,
Deep in the African heartland. A country club, a game of cricket - mostly lost on me - and a fine cup of tea. Such a delight to find civilisation spread around the globe!
Only France and Britain are worthy of ruling the world.

I like it bitter. No sugar, no honey but with a lemon (whenever possible). It does not matter whether it is cold or hot.
R.I.P. Tosa...
The Frenchman's got it. Tea is to be hot, not iced into some kind of attempt at a bad soft drink. Just a teeny splash o' milk, nothing else. Preferably white tea, but most are good.
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.
I'm not a fan of sugar in iced tea. I went to college and law school in the South and I could never order iced tea because "unsweetened" tea had about 6 lbs of sugar and "sweet" tea was basically a glass of sugar with a few drops of tea in it.I like the Ito En green teas. No sugar!
Well I might as well throw my 2p in for what it's worth:
- Sugar with hot tea (whether with milk or without), none with iced tea.
- Iced tea with lemon really is the ultimate thirst quencher when it's getting really hot, but hot tea is nice in any climate.
