I've read only one Osprey book, which I found pretty interesting (Shadows in the Desert by Kaveh Farrokh). Of course such a book won't enable you to get your MA grades, but it provides a good introduction into a topic that is new for you.

Chris Webber's 'The Thracians' Osprey title is definitely one of the best, and is probably the only ancient one to contain actual hard-to-get info on recent, and very interesting finds (like these romphaiai - most have not been fully or widely published yet). It also includes some tantalizing info and images on unpublished finds.
Maybe one of the EB Team members would like to offer some commentary as to the value of Osprey books?
Good books usually. A few though can have erraneous information and as I recall some of the Plates use sources from different finds, eras, locations etc. when illustrating one type of soldier.
Ospreys are good for people who want information of a general subject and have no wish in reading through ancient authors and archeological records.

No honestly very little EB 'work' derives from Osprey, at least for the Celts anyway. Still, as others have said, they are handy for the big picture of history in most respects.
