In my current Casse campaign I was beseiging an Arverni city, duing the AI turn my army dropped the seige and a Romani one beseiged the city. Is this supposed to happen?

They weren't bribed though, they were still mine. Do you mean a diplomat attempted to bribe them causing them to drop the seige? Never come across that before.

It's possible that the Arverni bacame allies of your allies. That would make a ceasfire between you two.
Or are you still at war with them?

Several things may have happened. Your allies may have allied with the Arverni then declared war on them, making you lift your siege for no reason. If the Romani are your ally, they can besiege the same town you are already besieging. Or you may have had one of those weird bugs where your army thinks it still has to move to the spot it already is in, canceling what it was doing but not going anywhere (fleets will do this more often when told to blockade a port).

Well, you know. The Romans are the greediest people on earth. That is what happened ;-)
'For months Augustus let hair and beard grow and occasionally banged his head against the walls whilst shouting; "Quinctillius Varus, give me my legions back"' -Sueton, Augustus.

"Deliver us oh God, from the fury of the Norsemen", French prayer, 9th century.

Exactly. Roleplayed, perhaps the Roman army is larger and the intimidation was like, "Okay, I know you really want that city my friend, but since I have a bigger stick, move out of my way unless you want to be my enemy as well" (--Roman Consul).

If you are allied with Rome, just join the siege and assault before they do. Then let their troops take most of the damage. You get the city if you initiate the assault.

Earlier on in my current Romani campaign, I did the same thing to prevent the Lusitani getting Arse when I wanted it.
