We had two metres of snow before, and all we had to do was to pile it up and then jump from a five-storey Krushchevka (the nickname of the standard apartment buildings built during Kruschev's time - nearly all were five storeys, with very similar/identical blueprints).

The newest neologism: Snoverkill.

A second major snowstorm in less than a week struck the eastern United States Wednesday, paralyzing travel for millions, shutting down the US capital, and forcing school closures from Virginia to New York.

The National Weather Service forecast that the storm, dubbed "Snoverkill" by the local media, would dump up to 14 inches (36 centimeters) of fresh snow on the mid-Atlantic region.

This comes on top of the three feet (91 cm) of snow from the weekend's powerful blizzard, much of which remains on the ground.

The Post was calling it Snowmageddon. Just shoveled about 6 inches off the driveway, and it's still coming down. The wind is picking up, which I'm guessing is a good thing, should blow the snow off the trees and keep them from dropping on the power/phone lines. Hopefully it clears the roof a little, there have been some collapses with the buildup.
