But the green nuts are too chemophobic to realise that that everything is a chemical, whether good or bad. For that matter, my father thinks that way too, but his understanding of health science is appalling. Which means that he is normal, as per the societal average.
You do not want to know how many hundreds of billions, any, probably trillions of dollars are wasted painstakingly exacting all sorts of chemical compounds that could be synthesised in a jiffy for a tenth, hundredth, or even one/one-thousands of the cost of the 'natural' extraction process. At the same time, of course, the more complex compounds are in fact easier to extract from biological entities, but that is a whole different story, as are the compounds too complex to be synthesised at all.
