I need to bypass the school's firewall to update my Steam because the retards at Valve changed something in the system and my Steam picked it up, and now my Empire Total War is stuck forever at "Downloading update..."
Will the admin notice the traffic?

Depends. Consider this though: subverting the security of the network is abusing facilities which is worth a trip to the deacon at the very least and will probably get you kicked out of the place with an additional damages claim to boot.

Have you asked the admin if there is some reason why Steam is locked out? Maybe the recent change has unintended effects.

Our connection is very slow and we're a small school, but I'm the only one having Steam. Still, the guy said he won't do it on the campus until they will upgrade the system in March, but I still have 3 weeks left of this term and I need ETW to enjoy myself during the weekend.
Guess I'll have to have a word with him, maybe he can let me when people are away partying.
