A new trend has come to town: taking showers without undressing completely.

In high schools around the Drammen area, the students either shower with their underwear on after gym class, or they don't shower at all. Almost nobody takes off their panties when they shower. Why? Explanations are hard to find, but shyness, being self-conscious about their looks, teasing, etc probably plays a part. But damn it, the stereotypical teen is supposed to be obsessed with hygiene, not engaging in filthy, unhygienic practices like this!

Why is it happening? And is it happening other places too?

So sadly it seems to be a trend here too. What is perhaps even worse is that I'm at uni and usually go swimming, at the pool for students, and there are at times those who shower with clothes before going in the pool.

Yeah that's another disgusting one, and one that I unfortunately know nothing about, as I'm not on speaking terms with Mr. Water...

But it doesn't make it more tempting to go swimming knowing that people don't clean their crotches before diving in. It's time to consider shower guards to ensure that people gets completely undressed.

To be honest, AFAIK it was normal for us to shower with underwear if we were in a comunal shower. It's actually strange. When i was a kid, everybody showered nude and now when I'm an adult again I shower for all to see. But inbetween, e.g. the teenage years, everybody wore underwear. It probably had something to do with being uncomfortable with your body.

That and we sometimes showered together with girls (under supervision).

Also, in my highschool, the guys either not showered, or just kept their gym shorts on for the showering. There was some real peer stigmatization to getting naked to shower.

Kind of sad if people are afraid to, whatever the reasons. But then, we also went skinny dipping whenever we had the chance!

at my school we shower nude most of us. if you look at a dudes junk and mention it your going be branded as gay. and an actual gay dude probably doesnt want to take a shower with naked men if he wants to hide his homsexuality.

And that line is from one posters(on a norwegian forum) reaction to a NSFW picture of Vibeke Skofterud, my hometowns very own lesbian olympic gold winner, which was released a few years ago, in which she was standing in the shower with her panties on... I thought it was quite fitting.

No. The issue isn't showering with underwear specifically(they do change to fresh ones), it's showering with clothing that is unhygienic and gross. You don't get clean with clothing on, that's the problem.
