On those several times I have tried this solution, the Chat Room was by far the LEAST populated and therefore rather convenient to quickly spot your partner. That is why I would prefere the Chat Room and I will (unless the majority decides otherwise) be right there on those precious occasions when I can play EB on-line. Hopefully we meet each other there and have good fight or two!

This is a majority of the time correct, as the competitive room--I forgot to mention--is at times populated by clan members wishing to participate in clan wars on "vanilla" R:TW. It has never been populated by more than a dozen people--at least when I have checked. Continue entering your ballots please.

I was not aware EB 1.2 could be used on gamespy.... If so, why has hamachi been so popular?

Just out of curiosity Vartan, have you had a successful game with EB on gamespy yet?
from Megas Methuselah, for some information on Greek colonies in Iberia.

Of course I have. I've played the original Rome:Total War as well as modifications Europa Barbarorum and Napoleonic Total War 2 on Gamespy server. It always work as long as you have not modded your game or modification beyond the point of no return. I define this as any modification that causes the game data to be incompatible (Gamespy will alert you of incompatible data files).

I do not know. I have not been around long enough to be able to accurately illustrate a history of the multiplayer feature of EB. Sorry.

It's cool, it was more of a rhetorical question than anything else.
