    Default A Happy EB Easter

That's right folks. I wish you all the happiest of Easters, with EB to boot! You heard me right. Even though Easter may not have been something to celebrate (i.e. no reason to celebrate an event that had not occurred yet!), it is still something of interest. For instance, can anyone contribute any celebrations and holidays during or near EB's time frame that are/were similar to what we know as Easter today?

Thanks all, and have a good one (or hope you had a good one, if you're in an easterly time-zone)

I could be wrong but didn't the bunny replace the Anglo-Saxon hare? Because the hare was a pagan symbol the church forcibly replaced with with their own Christian symbol but chose the rabbit becuase it looked like a hare. Just something i remember the BBC saying. Although come to think of that its probably rubbish, rabbits were not wild in England till the 19th century, before that they were farmed.

Am I simply spouting nonesense having eaten too much chocolate? Does anyone know the truth?

I always thought it had to do with Mithras.

Google knows all. Although since the author lists no credentials and gives no citations, this should be taken with a grain of salt:

It has nothing to do with Catholicism but with the Hare club for men.

well, I got that from a friend of mine: was wlking to the college resteraunt back when I was still in Texas, and as I was reaching it, she came out of the bookstore, glanced at me, and said that line.

I didn't know what it was about (or what easter was about), till I moved to Colorado.
