I could be wrong but didn't the bunny replace the Anglo-Saxon hare? Because the hare was a pagan symbol the church forcibly replaced with with their own Christian symbol but chose the rabbit becuase it looked like a hare. Just something i remember the BBC saying. Although come to think of that its probably rubbish, rabbits were not wild in England till the 19th century, before that they were farmed.
Am I simply spouting nonesense having eaten too much chocolate? Does anyone know the truth?
