Since Iceland has no army, someone should really invade them and shut down their volcanoes for good; then we'll see who's tough.

I blame the lack of grammar. Didn't get og correctly (red it as or). So the message said: "Give us money or we turn off the vulcano". That made it a very stupid blackmail letter.

As someone who knows a bit about language, the attempt at writing something Icelandic-like looks really poor. The Icelandic word for "police" is actually 'lögregla', and the letter "ü" is not at all in the Icelandic alphabet. It should also have been "við" and not "vi"; and the "þ" looks really misplaced.
