You'd think that if his exercise regime hurt him so much, he'd simply stop. Sometimes the pain isn't worth the gain.

I heard that eating smaller meals every 4 hours or so is better that 3 large meals a day. I haven't been able to mainten the routine though. When I ran 6-10 miles a day, I didn't eat as much as I should have. I think that's why I got so thin. I plan to trail-run soon in a state park, will definately eat more then! (While maintaining suitable time with the weights)

I believe it is Paul Mc Kenna who came up with that.

He also recommends eating slowly, which gives your body time to tell you "you are full", also recommends drinking lots of water, because some people confuse the feeling of thirst for hunger. By eating little and often, it trains the body that there always will be food, so it stops trying to store fats, compared to hardly eating, thus the body storing fats when it can.

This is obviously for weight loss, not for those who intentionally work-out. For people like Centurion1 who actively work-out, they eat hyper-calorie protein chocolate bars, etc. For someone losing weight, it is probably equivant of stuffing your face with 10 normal chocoate bars with a large steak ontop, in otherwords, a very bad idea.

I understand, nice observation. I was enlightened to that 'eating guide' if you will in an article on a bodybuilding webpage. It also went into such convolutions of anabolicnesses, blood sugar levels and other such things I didn't understand. I'm not saying what I read was worthless, just perhaps geared toward those who can benefit from eating that way. By the way those protien 'candy bars' are great if you have a sweets craving and don't want to eat a hershy bar!

I'd say bike, but I'm adding a disclaimer here so one of our many nutriution gurus won't rip me a new one ;).

High intensity is what you want to be looking for.

I used to bike extensively, one time this guy at the gym said biking didn't work the hamstrings well, though I disagreed at the time. It's good exercise, your stamina will allow for further distances to be travelled and it's easeir to take in the scenery. Jogging is more exertive and I think will burn calories faster, but, I also think there are more gains to be made in burning calories more slowly. The only problem being is that I used to jog year round, I was only able to bike during the warmer months.

Jogging can be bad for your spine, funnily enough. Same as treadmills, especially as you don't do it properly. (Yes, there are actual ways you are meant to walk, run, job, sit in a chair, etc)

I use a bike myself, as you are exercising the same muscles, and arguably even more.

The intoxicating degree of exertion and the eventual runners high, not to mention the euphoric feeling one receives when finished (jogging), I feel, far outweighs any physical pleasures of bicycling. Though bicycling has its charm. I'll worry about physcial ills when I'm old and crotchety.

Biking is better for your knees, but worse for your testicles.

    It was?

There is a show on Britain's Channel 4 which is all about comedic endeavours. The 'Militant Black Guy' I mentioned is one; it's basically this black dude who goes into various places and asks questions that will yield a response he can deem as racist. Another is the 'Bunny Boiler', a pretty woman who goes around to find couples and flirts with the male to gauge an aggressive response from their partner.

It's funny at times, boring at others.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.
