Default i ran over a squirrel today

    i feel awful for it.

then i was standing in line at the store and the little girl behind me with her mom in line started talking about how cute squirrels were, i could barely stand it.

but in my defense it was running over the squirrel or slamming into an 18-wheeler.

At least it was quick and painless. Look at it this way, perhaps the squirrel can reincarnate as a higher life form?

Squirrels are just furry tailed rats. Don't think too much about it.

And to all the Brits, chances are it was a gray squirrel, not a red. Destructive rodents, that's all they are.

    Squirrel Sauce Piquante

    2 Squirrels

1 cn Tomato sauce (8 oz.)
    Cooking oil
    3 Med. onions, chopped
    1 tb Flour
    Water
    Black & red pepper, salt

Rub squirrels with salt, black and red pepper. Put oil in heavy iron pot 1/4" deep. Brown squirrels on all sides and remove from pot. Lower fire to med. heat and saute onions, bell peepper and flour in remaining oil until brown. Place squirrels back in pot, add enough water to cover meat. Add tomato sauce. Cover and simmer on low fire 1 1/2 to 2 hrs., or until tender.

Most squirrels are nasty. They're not much better than rats, but for some reason they look cute.

Squirrels also have a pronouced, unpleasant odor. There were some living in my fathers chimney and they were removed. The smell was terrible. If anyone has ever gotten a good smell of a ferret, the scent is similar, just alittle stronger.

That's a good question. Normally I'd say a Chianti is Italian pi...erm, might drown the subtle taste of squirrel. Like rabbit, the taste is easily overpowered. But since we are preparing the squirrel spicey - much of it's soft texture having been lost by running it over, so a more robust preparation is in order - a stronger wine might not be inappropriate. Worth a try!

Same here. Where I am, we have these little creatures called "prairie dogs."

A nice full bodied red would be my choice. A bergundy perhaps. Or you could eschew convention all together and plump for a nice dry white. If so, a sautern would be acceptable.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Just stick a spike through them, shave off the fur, and put on a barbeque for ten minutes. Then nibble of the tender parts. Great with any spicey sauce.

One is allowed to snap off the legs and fingerfood them, like chicken wings.

I eat rabbit probably once a month or so, nothing special about that.
