Thread: Trivial Script and SP/MP EDU Backup Folders

Default Trivial Script and SP/MP EDU Backup Folders

Hi everybody. I am creating a tutorial video and there is one missing piece to the puzzle before I can complete it. Here is my question:

When we wish to play single or multiplayer, we need to switch the EDUs so that they correspond to the mode of the game we wish to play. We don't need to do this manually as the Trivial Script was made for this very reason. My tutorial requires that the player manually copy over those files in the sp/mp edu backup folders. My question is: where exactly is that destination folder? I know where the sp and mp edu backup folder is: [RTW]/[EB]/sp game edu backup & [RTW]/[EB]/mp game edu backup. But where do I need to copy the three files in each folder so that it switches the edu? Where do those 3 files need to end up?

    Thank you,

I'm not quite sure I understand what you want... Am I right that you have made changes to three files, among them the two files the Trivial Script switch around? If so, the correct location to replace those files would be in the actual sp/mp edu backup folders. This is because these locations are the source that the Trivial Script uses to copy files into their respective destination folders. For those who use the Trivial Script, you do not need to copy anything into the destination folders, because that's what the Trivial Script does for you.

Still, for those who do not use the Trivial Script, you may want to put those files directly to the destination.
    export_descr_unit.txt goes into RTW/EB/Data.
    Rome.lnt goes into RTW/EB/Data/menu.

Am I that bad at making people understand? I was just asking what you would do if you didn't have Trivial Script installed (and I don't mean for an answer such as: "Install Trivial Script."). Now, thanks for telling me where the menu and the EDU files go, but where does the map.rwm file go?

I just didn't know for sure that you were talking about non-TS installations. As far as I could see, you stated your need to put files in the backup folders, and you appeared to do that correctly already.

Oddly, map.rwm wasn't among the files in the backup folders on my installation, but I don't use the TS... Anyway, map.rwm goes into RTW/world/maps/base, IIRC (I don't have EB on this computer). You can always search for the filename in Windows Exploder to find where any file is supposed to go.

Thanks. You've no idea how helpful this is going to be for the community (especially online players)...
