    Default Login problems

Over the last few days I've experienced login problems with the forum. It seems to be intermittent. Sometimes when typing in my password it remains visible instead of being asterisked out, and the login is then invalid. Gregoshi experienced the same thing when I emailed him to find out if the org was down, as I hadn't been able to get on in 1 1/2 days. I don't know if this is related, but my igoogle homepage now requires me to login every time and had never done that before.

I use IE8 as my browser and am curious if others have experienced similar issues and what browser they are using. Tosa is working on the problem but I'm not sure if he has been able to replicate it. More info from those who are experiencing this could help him out.

My solution for now is not to log out, though it's such a habit of mine that I sometimes forget.

I use Firefox 3.6.3 and I haven't experienced any problems.

Edit: Though I hardly ever log out.

As Hosakawa said, I was experiencing the same problem - and still am when I use IE 8. However, I've been successful at logging in with Firefox every time.

Yes pever, I know about the announcement, I just wanted to get an idea of how large a problem this is, collect some info for Tosa and others who might be having this problem. I suspect it might just be with the IE8 browser.

    Hello,

It's good to get those reports. I changed something, does it have any effect?

I just logged out and then logged in using IE8, no problems. Hopefully that fixes it. Thank you Tosa!

    Hi Tosa,

I managed to log in this time at least; whatever you are doing you are obviously on the right track somehow.

For the reference to others, I use IE 6 and I did have had all the problems Hosakawa described in post:1.
However, I have had it all the time until now (at least a few days back)....

    - Cheers

Hopefully, the problem will disappear now for me as well.

The only thing I'm noticing is that the main page, http://www.totalwar.org, no longer takes you to a real page (after the upgrade it went to the CMS). Now I just get a "drone, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:" notifier.

    Hello Drone,

The redirect to the CMS is intentionally, we want one active homepage. But no permission?

    Hello to all.

I have been having this problem now for a few days. Cannot log on to .org forum.

Tosa has been informed through the Contact Us option. Auto email that someone is trying to log on using my username and password. (after 5 unsuccessful attemps)

    FYI.
I use IE 8 browser and my password shows in the box the same as Hosakawa Tito posted.
But I get a You have entered an incorrect password message.

If I use Firefox I can enter my username and password click log in.
Then I get the You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:" notifier.
But I cannot get to the forum.

Today I managed to log on using IE 8. But it took nearly 15 minutes to load .org.

I shall leave my status as logged on. It will save all this hassle.

I do not have any problems logging on to all the other forums and websites I am registered on.

    Hello,

Not logged in gives the no permission page :/ Being logged in returns the CMS as supposed.

Then it's still not completely fixed Jochi Khan.

Not logged in gives the ...Click the "Remember my password" message.

Logged in gives the ..."You do not have permission etc etc" message.

I do not get to the Home page.

    Drone,

For how long is this an issue already? That info could hint to the reason why it works like it does.

It started a couple of days ago, I only notice on my home PC because my bookmark there is to the main page. At work, my bookmark is for http://www.totalwar.org/vb/index.php, so no problems. It doesn't keep me from browsing, I can just hit the "forums" button and continue.

The login problem first happened for me the evening of June 3rd.

    Update to log in problems.

This evening I am now able to get to the Home page (CMS) with IE 8 and Firefox.

I logged off (because I have left my status as 'logged on'), then re-logged on.

The Boxes now allow me to enter my Username and Password correctly.

This takes me to the Home page (CMS). I no longer get the ..You do not have permission etc etc message.

From there I can now click on and get to the forums.

Thank you Tosa for whatever you have done to correct this.

I indeed did something Jochi Khan, but to claim I fully understood why I did what is something slightly different.
