    Default Dealing with Video?

Hi, i was trying to edit the Dump0000 file in the menu folder. It's an mpeg file so edited it with Pinacle and saved it as an mpeg. Hower the sucker won't come up, it just goes straight through to one of the screen instead. Any advice from you folks about how to edit vid clips like the Dump0000. I gather it needs to be mpeg1 or somthing. I have a clip working but it's taken from another mod, so presumably it can be done. What programes etc do you need to edit this part of the game. What are the rules concerning this, how do you get the mpeg1 format up etc? Can this in fact be done without scripting?

Any adivice from you folks at the Org?

I've uploaded that text file showing what the vanilla Rome: Total War dump0000 media file is exactly. Apparently it's a video file that is just over 30s long, Windows Media format, encoded on 13 August 2004, Overall constant bit rate of about 1.286 Kbps. WMV9 is the codec. Resolution: 512 x 384 (4:3), 30fps, 8-bit, progressive...look at the text file for more info. I'm not a modder, I work on video. If you adhere more or less to those settings and formats you should probably be able to replace it with your own Dump0000 file if that's what you're trying to do.

Hi, thanks for taking the time for such a well researched reply. I'm editing with Pinacle studio 5.0 do you know if the above format can be saved with that system? It's not somthing I'm familiar with the video part of the game so it may be simply be blatant incometence on my part but when i saved the clip I edited it came up as a bunch of mpeg formats 1,2 and several others. Also the clip i used that worked was mpeg when i looked at it with the file properties thing.
I'll give it another go and see how i get on. Thanks again for the trouble taken
