Default The 2010 World Cup topic

Here's a topic where we can talk about the current footbal world cup in South Africa, discuss about our favourite teams and every action, just like the Argentinian offside of yesterday against Mexico.

Now, about EB teams, the Romani, Aedui and Arverni did a very bad tournament, while Koinon Hellenon failed to qualify.
However the Sweboz destroyed the Casse with a huge 4-1 and now are one of the most serious teams for the final win.

Now the Lusotannan are playing against the Iberi, who will win?
You're an island of tranquillity in a sea of chaos.

    Wrong thread.

The Yayoi deserved a win, though.

Cool Re: The 2010 World Cup topic

My son got the Panini World Cup 2010 sticker album, and the Swiss are down as the Helveti in that. Made me smile (gave me an excuse to bore him with why they are the Helveti as well.. ha ha..)

Do you mean that they didn't qualify for the entire tournament or they didn't make it into the Round of XVI ?

I recall them playing against one of the African tribes.

    Well, yesterday, the Mapuches routed...

I hoped the lusotannan would beat the out of the iberians, to get revenge for the mapuches, but unfortunately, iberi villa caetrati was too strong for the lusos to hold him

On the other hand, i wish the belgae rout the stupid amazonians

And also, the i want the sweboz to beat the diaguita, although i like both of them, the swebi are my favorites

Hard task considering that amazonians and iberians are ranked as number 1 and 2. But just wait till 2014, those amazonians will cry! (hopefully)

Traitor?? why?? amazonians where always my second posibility, no one can hate those guys. As already said before 2014 will be our year, the year of the Mapuche (not the only but the most iconic tribes in Chilean territory) in Amazonia!!!!!!!!!!

You know, I've used the language and iconography of football matches to describe ancient battle tactics. The language of it fits perfectly, teams look to "flank" opponents (use fast, mobile units to attack weaknesses on the flanks). They look to use a strong heavy infantry (forward) to smash the opponents "formation" (as LLoret did for the Iberians last night). There are teams that utilise personal flair, and others that are organised and disciplined/some that look to wave after wave of attcks, and others that patiently defend their lines and look for the chance to make the killer punch through enemy lines. Talismanic figures (champions) are often utilised to rally the 'troops', and the individual units' are reliant on confidence in their colleagues, and the tactics of their commander.
