Thread: Allied General - Client Rulers

Default Allied General - Client Rulers

I moved my allied general into a city with a gov4 and he's not turning into a client ruler..Do I have to tear down the gov4 building and then build it AGAIN for him to change into a client rule?

I don't think so. He should became a client ruler. I did this all the time when figting in Arabia, since there you can't recruit rulers. I just trained them in Ptolemais Theron, and shipped them there. The next turn they became client rulers

he was there for two turns and didn't become a client ruler. At least he still had the allied general trait. So I just made a new one.

They have to be in their first round in the game where you want to have them, either in the city to become a governor or in the field to become a general. They have to end their first turn in the wished location, that is important.

I get that. I'm talking about converting the general type into a client ruler later on in his life.

Claudius if your copy of EB + EBBS is working properly, allied gen becomes client ruler the turn following his entrance into a city.

Actually, an allied general will become a client ruler if he's in the city when a type IV government is built - not just a turn after entering a city.

(I think - test at your own leisure.)

Was the client ruler you installed appropriate for the territory? i.e. If you put a Hellenistic Misthophoros Strategos in a T4 in a Celtic or other non-Hellenistic territory, then maybe he wouldn't become governor. But I switch Celtic Vollorixes between T4 Celtic states without a problem and they start ruling one turn after entering the territory.

i have this problem too my allied general never turned into a client ruler. How many turns does it take for him to convert to being client ruler?

once you choose a carreer for a recruited/client you cant change back. Its a feature working as intended.

Go back and carefully read the posts in this thread. The player clearly had a T4 Gov't. Ziggy, the feature ain't workin' right. I used to go from gen to governor and back all the time.

No, this is not true. My client rulers became generals, conquered an area, built a level 4 goverment, and the next turn they became client rulers

This is my experience too, and I do it regulary for rp reasons. For example let a Greek general wth mainly Greek troops take a Greek city.

Could the issue in the OP be that the lvl IV building was already there? Seems weird to me anyway.

Yes the Iv building was already there.

I was asking if I had to tear it down and rebuild it for him to revert back to a client ruler.... I guess that's the case? Haven't tested because I was busy fighting wars on three fronts.

I think this is probably the issue. That level IV gov't technically represents the gov't left there by the previous owners. If you destroy it and build your own I'm guessing that the general will become a client ruler the next turn.
