Thread: Proposed Minor Changes to EBO Rules

Default Proposed Minor Changes to EBO Rules

Proposed minor changes to EB Online rules:

    Victory Conditions
Current Vic. Cond. states that if you can surround a remnant phalanx army that has formed a so-called noob box then you automatically win. Proposal is to have this play out just like any other endgame and have the players fight to the death to see who wins.

    Draw Rules
Currently nothing to prevent battle on bridge or uneven terrain maps. Proposal is to ban (read: not accept in tournaments) battles fought on maps with uneven terrain (slight hills, esp. in center of battle map, are fine) as well as bridge maps. Proposal is also to remove the statement that if map has closely spaced buildings that one can leave without penalty. The reason is that the buildings may provide interesting tactical maneuvering.

    All insight appreciated.

Both proposals are perfectly fine. I accept

The first rule is stupid, if you have no more cavalry or archers left, most of the time, if the enemy is out of archers or Heavy cav, you form a box, in that case, it is NOT a noob box.

Sigh...I wish we would just simply play the game rather than be talking about it.

Maybe we should just first play it and then see if such rules can adapt to it, rather than the other way around.

Noob boxes always incite discontent among the people, for the Player can always use such trick to win even that he has lost all his cav and archers, regardless of that what the opponent will do.

About the maps then maybe the Players can just simply agree it with themselves to turn each to the other direction, like by fighting from right to left rather than from rear to front of the starting map.

I agree completely VikingPower, but I've gotten used to seeing an empty network. I tell myself that folk are either 1) unaware of EBO, 2) too busy to play EBO, or 3) feel as if one cannot play on the network if one does not conform to the rules. In all fairness, those rules were meant for tournament gameplay, not casual gameplay. Do not be put off by the pages of text uploaded to that site.

The game is yours. Embrace it as you will.

What I was referring to is a hedgehog btw. More similiar to the BI schiltrom.

    On not enough players,

People not having time? Well, in my case, i dont have a computer till May when my exams finish, plus this is a very busy few months.

There are enough players in EB, but most just seem content in bashing the AI...

Or it might be because they dont know about it, Hamachi messing up networks .. etc...

I have recently been sending many posts about the multiplayer aspect of EB but it seems that it was all upon a wrong basis.

For I had at that time not been playing Rome total war online but it was rather Medieval 2 (which is not balanced enough since the heavy cav can just trample everything in frontal charge).

However after I started playing Rome total war online then everything has been solved in an indirect way.

For it is better to have one hand full rather than two hands empty - better to play an imperfect game with more than hundred of players available rather than a perfect game which nobody plays online.

So good luck with everything and farewell.
