Just asking...It's been a while(meaning almost a decade) waiting for Diablo 3 to come out. Yeah sure those videos at BlizzCon looks cool. But then again, it's hell more a lot of fun to play than just watch...So here we go...just post your thoughts, rants, whatever...here

Played both to death, fantastic games. Amazing that there are so few clones as they are still sold even after what is centuries in game-years.

And FYI, Diablo III has been out for years now. It's called Titan Quest.

I'm praying to all the gods that Blizzard doesn't royally screw D3 up like they did with D2 post-1.09 with the patches.

Tbh, I can't care much anymore about Blizzard games now.

I found Starcraft II to be really boring and unoriginal. I bet Diablo III will be the same. I'll try it when it's out, but for now, I already have a lot of Hn'S to try :)

Diablo III. Ah. Been waiting 5+ years for it, hopefully 2011 will see it released. It looks very good, a continuation and a freshening up of the series. The story was made by Blizz. North back in the day, and they've only recently been able to build a good engine to do it justice. I sit and hope in anticipation.

Same here, Blizzard gameplay mechanics are always polished to a mirror shine, it's impossible that it isn't at least really good at what it does. For these folks graphical wizardry has always been less important than overall presentation and clockwork precision.

I'm looking forward to it. Blizz will finish it up properly, no doubt. They do have endless time and money after all.

I'm curious about how the crafting will work out.

I had it on Amazon pre-order for ages, though when it comes out, I will be getting it for like £15, so good news for me.

    I played Diablo 2 when I was.. 13 or 14.. that was about 10 years ago. Unless I get a pc upgrade, I won't be getting 3 although I wish i could.

Of course it was unoriginal. Fans wanted to play starcraft but in 2010... not some game that did not resemble the orginal.

I've been recreating my favorite ladder characters from seasons past (still have about 20 active accounts from up to six seasons ago) on Single Player using Hero Editor, capturing every detail so I can play them in Single Player when I want, once D3 takes over and D2 is gone. I'm just dwinking around with a MF sorc on the current ladder; haven't really gotten into it much this season.

I'd been hanging on to the old characters on Non-Ladder so I could reference them and play them occasionally, but rebuilding them in Hero Editor will allow me to "keep" them on SP while liquidating all their high-end gear on the non-ladder trade market, so I have some trading power when D3 comes out.

So yeah, I've played a ton since early 1.09, still play on occasion, and am looking forward to D3.

My hopes are high when it comes to D3. When reading about it, it seems that they really have thought it through what was wrong with d2. One of the things they will put a lot into is the economy system. It was completely broken in d2

I stongly disagree. Adding items like Enigma made the PvP part of d2 one of the best and most intense pvp systems ever made.

New news about Diablo 3, apparently it's more like single player WoW now.
Players will need to be connected to the Internet all the time to play, and there's going to be an online auction house where people will can use gold or real world money to buy and sell stuff.
    Link1
    Link2
Basically, players can either use in-game gold or real money to purchase, trade, and bid for items for the respective currency; the former method is done in the gold-based auction house while the latter is in the currency-based auction house. Players can open up the interface within the game, in which they can sell items from a shared stash (essentially a storage shared among all a player's character classes on their Battle.net account) or from a single character's inventory. A seller will be charged a fixed transaction fee for each item listed in the auction house. Blizzard will collect the fee for each item listed in the auction house.
In other related news, the game also requires a constant internet connection regardless of which mode a player chooses to do. Wilson said it was a decision they made in the duration of the project to offer persistent characters, players that wish to play multiplayer with in-game characters they can store online forever, and enhanced security.

Not at all shocked, the writing has been on the wall for quite some time that Blizzard would sink to further "lows" in their DRM and business models. I don't have any doubt that Diablo 3 will make tons of money, and blizzard's authorized gold buying will make them additional tonnage.

But it honestly doesn't sound like the game for me. Torchlight 2, on the other hand, never looked better.

I love how Runic Games threw down the gauntlet.

#Torchlight2 will still support mods, LAN play, and will be a one time purchase. :)

I remember playing Diablo 1, even got the "non-exsistant" expansion pack for it (Hellfire) - was pretty neat, added alot of cool stuff but didn't seem well polished.
I'm still playing D2:LoD now - Druid is quite possibly the most broken (in early game) character ever - just stack Fissure. Heck level 2 fissure will kill Andariel with no trouble at all. He's basically the demi-god of AoE damage.

D3 doesn't look great... I really don't like this trend among Koctizzard Acti-Blizzard of "No lan!, online only!, FINAL DESTINATION" they've been doing recently. Although I'll admit LAN is a great method of playing Pirated games onlines (Even games with no Lan option availible can still often use Game Ranger etc)
About the Auction house for real cash... I'm actually sorta glad about that (Although I would never use it). Selling off in-game items used to be exclusively done via a 3rd party which of course was VERY prone to scamming.

Also I heard something about a 4 Player limit in online games... wut. If they pull a technical excuse I will get mad -actually scratch that I won't care.

Path of Exile is coming up pretty neat, as is Torchlight 2.
