Seems a little strange that the software won't allow it to be user configurable. I imagine the DB keeps everything in standard GMT, options in the user settings include Time Zone, DST, and Start of Week, so each user already gets a customized timestamp for everything. Why not the 12/24 option? Weird.![]()

It is odd. I was a little surprised, to be honest.
If you are interested, the time is actually stored in the database using the unix time stamp ie the number of seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. Your post, for instance, is stored as 1303997735 (or Thursday 28 Apr 2011 13:35:35 GMT).
