Thread: [EB] Hamachi doesn't connect to network adapter

Default [EB] Hamachi doesn't connect to network adapter

    As the title says...

I was able to join the EB Online network (name: new player) using the Network ID: 031-664-896 and the password: eb. I also got a short message that included a link to the EB Portal. But I don't seem to be able to get any real connection using hamachi. I tried to change the network settings as described in the 'net adapter priority' video on the 'Getting Started' page of EB Online. The thing is: Hamachi isn't listed at all, so I can't relocate it below my local area connection. In addition to that I can't find any kind of Hamachi network adapter im my network connections folder.

There was a another user in the EB Online network, so I tried to contact him. But Hamachi told my there's a 'Tunnel problem' and the status of the VPN domain Hamachi is 'network adapter error' (> details: Error: Failed to connect to the network adapter. Peer is not accessible via VPN.).

Does anyone know what's wrong or did I miss something. I'm using WinXP Home btw.

One second. So what you're saying if I understand you correct is that you've installed Hamachi, yet your computer doesn't show the virtual network adapter?

Basically, if Hamachi installed correctly (and it may require a restart on XP), then it will add a VPN adapter in your list of adapters. Here are my adapters and you can see Hamachi is one of them:

So if you aren't seeing this, then you'll likely have problems connecting to others. You may want to uninstall, and try a fresh install (and try restarting after the installation is complete). By the way, if it does work correctly, you won't need to change adapter priorities. Hamachi now installs in the "correct" relative priority location by default.

Thanks for the reply, it got me thinking and finally I managed to solve the problem after searching the entire LogMeIn support and half the internet (that's what it felt like at least).

My problem was that Hamachi didn't create an entry in the Device Manager nor in the Network Connections folder at all - they were blank, at least as far as Hamachi is concerned. Eventually I figured out that it had to be my OS, as I only found a few other people with exactly the same issue. To make a long story short, the solution was actually very simple.

All I had to do was to (re-)activate the UPnP-service, that I had previously deactivated using xp-AntiSpy. Unchecking the appropriate box and reinstalling Hamachi did the trick for me. Now Hamachi works like a charm and I played my very first EB Online battles! Was great fun, though seeing enemy units performing intelligent moves and using proper tactics is somewhat unfamiliar. ;)

PS: I'm only went into the details, as I came across THIS thread when googling for a solution. So perhaps this might also help others out there with the same problem.

Yes. Sorry I didn't reply to your original point. You did mention uPnP and so it's my bad for not pointing that out. DO NOT deactivate it. Hamachi uses that by default. If you don't want to use uPnP for whatever reason (and you probably won't have a good reason for not using it for EBO), go to the advanced settings in Hamachi and tell it to disable uPnP.

LogMeIn recently reduced the free networks on Hamachi service from holding 16 slots to 8. This is all the more reason I need you guys working with Dreijer on getting RTW and EB working with Evolve. He hasn't had much talk with you guys lately as far as I am aware. He's working on some great improvements and holds in store much for the next versions of Evolve. Any feedback and testing with him is appreciated because it will likely mean a solution for this issue of population.
