medieval total war loading time

haven't seen any recent discussion on this subject so decided to make a thread
basically when u play a battle or campaign the loading red bar takes like 1 minute to actually start loading

I'm guessing there is no fix for this? I have ati 4850 is that the problem?
on my old pc loading took 5 seconds tops for anything

Here is a older thread on the issue. I don't think anyone has figured out what causes it, I think it is a combination of ATI cards and something else. I'm running an ATI Mobility 4850 (currently Catalyst 11.8) and it takes about 10-15 seconds to load back and forth.

thanks for response, what is your operating system?
if it would start loading straight away it would be 5 seconds top for me
also im pretty surprised nobody figured it out in such a long time for such an old game

My older setups were also ATI cards, a 9700 Pro XP desktop and a X800 XP laptop, and I never had long load times.

I don't get it then, surely there must be something that triggers it
some un-needed check the game does that maybe timeouts or something like that
will do my best to figure it out, might even try debugger or something
