Out of curiousity, how did people choose their avatars and signitures?

I chose an Ashigaru with a gun partly out of sympathy for the underdog (having a gun maybe gives him a chance against a samurai) and partly because I find the arrival of guns one of the interesting parts of STW.

I chose my quote from Arthur Conan Doyle as a reminder that we cannot understand history unless we bear in mind how different things look in different time periods and cultures. For instance, sometimes we judge the actions of others by standards that would not even make sense in their culture, and miss the whole point of what they did. Besides, history is more interesting when it opens your mind to a whole new way (or perhaps I should say old way) of seeing things.

I thought it would be cool to have a Native American avatar and I liked this one the most out of all of them. I've grown to like it even more after using it because I feel like it fits my personality pretty well and it even sort of looks like me in real life. I don't have a signature because I can't decide what I would put in it.

Mine is Ana Ivanovic, a total tennis babe. That should be reason enough to have her as my avatar.

I chose mine because I enjoyed to look of the avatar and the pose of the man portrayed within it. I also wanted a regular member avatar as I am no longer being a moderator and should no longer wear one of those. It is also an ETW avatar and you see less of them here than some other ones floating around. Also, it is the one I used before my moderatorship and I thought I would use it again after said moderatorship ended.

The signature, I thought it was about time to put my beloved Judy Garland to rest. She still hangs on my wall tenfold right where I can look upon her so why have her in my signature anymore. Instead, I thought I would celebrate my love for electronic cigarettes and the freedom from a two pack a day cigarette habit that ended almost one year ago (July 4th...independance day, heh heh). The ecigs are the two I use. 3-6 volt devices (variable voltage). The green one is my portable device while the blue one is a passthru (plugs into the wall) that I use at home. There is a nice 4.8 volt at 2.5 ohm exhale in the middle. :D Vape on my brothers (and sisters)!

For my name I chose the lowliest unit it the game I was playing at that time (MTW) and made an alliteration with it. Not being a native English speaker I misspelled Phil.

I've had several avatars so far. Made 2 of them myself. For now, I'm sticking with this one. It really brings out the color of my eyes.

My signature has also changed multiple times. At the moment I kind of use it as a small billboard so it'll probably change again very soon.

The site needed some shogun 2 avatars so I added some frames to the already interesting style of the unit cards/avatars from the game. I took this one because I used to use the stw ashigaru gunner.

My original name was Mike Hunt but Tosa and other moderators kept changing it because it was inappropriate. So I finally made my name "A Completely Inoffensive Name" as a jab at the moderators because I felt that Mike Hunt was such a tame joke coming from my last online community (YTMND).

The avatar is Yes Man from Fallout New Vegas because that is without a doubt my favorite game of all time and a game I still love to argue about with other people for days and days. Didn't like the Yes Man ending, but his face is adorable.

The quotes in my signature come from my top three favorite games of all time.

Moros from Greek mythology has a nice ring to it, is easy to remember. Used to had a rather dark .org avatar to go along side it. But I changed my avatar recently to be in line with those of the staff and it was fitting with my role as researcher for the Arabian Peninsula in EB II.

My profile pic is The Dude, probably my favorite movie character, rendered in the Obama 2008 color scheme, with an appropriate message added. My avatar used to be one of the VI viking avatars, until they made me change it. Now I have one of the MTW robed avatars, one of the last that wasn't already taken.

My siggie quotes are from long ago, one-liners from the Backroom that made me laugh at work. The Louis quote is not real, it's just a google translate of Strike's quote in French, I added that when the two of them were sharing identities.

In your "General Settings", check the box for "Display profile picture in forumposts.:", this will show the profile pic of the poster above their main TW avatar. If you want just profile pics, you can turn off showing the avatars in "General Settings" as well. To change your profile pic (yours is currently some crusader dude), go to "Edit Profile Picture".

You do know you can change your username. When we had the 4th instalment of Capo, I changed my name to Hero di classico, to make it sound Italian and also to make sure there was one person starting with an "H" in the list of players.

Tosa added the feature in January 2011. There are already some basic pics loaded into the system, but you can add your own. Not sure about file/image size limitations though.

I simply hated that "chinless wonder" (some napoleonish pseudo-sergeant or so) the system gave me by default. So I searched for one maybe looking a bit more like me. But my hair do have more curls ;-)))

Yes, I'm well aware. The wrong spelling just doesn't bother me. Now everyone thinks I'm calle Phillipe or something.
