The Afghan girl who got a wild card invitation had her invitation revoked a week before the games. The OC hasn't said why, but in all of her exhibition matches leading up to the games, her performances were a disaster, particularly one in china where the ref stopped the fight at a minute because she was getting pummelled. Kicking her out of the games may have very well saved her life, because I can see some jerk off muslim guy wanting to make a political statement killing her using the excuse she embarassed the country.

When you are in the Olympics there are several hurdles to pass before achieving

1) physically qualify
2) be chosen to represent your country (after all you compete as a member of your country not as an individual)
3) swear the Olympic oath

As such a country gets to chose its representatives and if they prefer a good communist, democrat or whatever else they can do so as it is their choice.
