Its worth pointing out that the city of New York, New York has more than twice the population of our entire state (which is bigger than New York State, I believe). With that in mind, at the peak of the KKK's presence here, there were hundreds of thousands of members. So while I would actually say that neo-nazis have less of an impact here than in most parts of the country, that sentiment is still there, I'm sure. Especially when you consider that they teach the liberal party-line in school here--very, very politically correct--so it would not surprise me if there was a neo-nazi presence simply as a reaction to that. But I wasn't joking about anti-skinhead groups. Ever since the '80s, Portland has been rife with little vigilante groups who will find a skinhead and break his legs. So while Neo-Nazis may idealize this place from afar, the general sentiment is that we want no part of it.
Last time I heard of Nazi beaters was in high school. The Goth kids and metal heads had a little club. Makes me glad I grew up in the inner city in Nova Scotia like I did (and it's the only thing that does). Otherwise I could have ended up like my moms family (who are from New Brunswick). Specially her one sister that spouts some very unpleasant opinions about the more caramel and chocolate flavours of humanity. So much so that my mom gives her "I can't believe we came out of the same birth hole" looks all the time.

The only time I don't judge someone harshly for it is if they spent a long time in prison, and had to do it for protection. My neighbor would be a case in point for that--he's got a giant fucking Swastika on his Arm, and it took me forever to convince him that getting it covered up might be a good idea.
Or you could turn it into another symbol all together. Put dots inside each arm and a Vedic verse in Hindi underneath. Boom, Hindu symbol.

Unfortunately, after a few weeks of dating, she let her inner nazi out and called one of my buddies (who was a Soldier, in uniform!) a Spic. She also had a little swastika tatoo'd behind her ear. So, this stuff is all over the place. You just have to watch out for it and not tolerate it.
So did you get rid of her by telling her you were converting to Judaism or had a black grand-parent? Because trolling haters is the best thing ever.
