Great, the patch is out and here I am with 3-4 hours left at work. Hate! Hate! Hate!

To those of you who have the patch or may be getting it very soon I am dying to know if the strategic AI's fetish with building ridiculous numbers of ships has been addressed. It isn't listed in the readme so I'm a tad worried.

    How big is the file?

When I started the dl in Firefox it said 50 some MB. Firefox is saying finished, but the file is only 20 some MB. And I'm at work so I can't run it against the v1.1 instance.

    edit
well, it wasn't finished. I've still got 30 MB to go.

As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Egyptian units have only been slightly modified from what I see. Axemen are down to "only" 5 armour in their skirts and neckpieces. Oversized desert cav and bowmen remain, as does the +5 shield for pharaoh's guard...who don't have shields.

Archery still looks a bit much...ranges and attack still the same. Bummer. In custom battle a single egyptian bowmen unit routed 1 unit of falxmen before it could reach them and nearly routed a second as well (they just made it to the bowmen but routed as they struck the stationary infantry support behind them = no egyptian casualties.)

The pri/sec bug is fixed. Iberian infantry can now fight a little while vs. hastati/principes.

Cav upkeep for first two tiers still looks cheap.

Hope the AI changes are more extensive than the unit fixes... I've got a lot of modding to do.

First thing I'm doing is breaking out a quick battle to test and see what things have been improved. Namely - skirmish AI/Phalanx - etc. I have high hopes and will report back... though the patch is less than half downloaded at the moment.

memory leakage due to fire arrows was not fixed. The one lag infested issue I wanted them to handle and it wasn't addressed. I know its not just me, I tried it on two different pc's and people in the chat lobby are also bitching about it.

I seriously doubt the patch will work with most mods, especially the really big ones like RTR or SPQR.

You really have no choice but to re-install Rome. Word to the wise, once you re-install copy the entire Rome installation folder to another directory, rename it to Rome RTR, and when the latest RTR comes out that is compatible with the 1.2 patch install it there. This way you'll always have a clean vanilla copy of Rome to use for MP games or to copy again for other mods.
