Because once you get there, you have to catch as many settlements as possible to get your money back, while only using the same army. Because after all, if you're in debt, you can't retrain the troops.
did a grande crusade with Gaul, i marched to rome destroying every city on my way. then killed all roman factions and sailed to Jerusalem and took it, and then made it my Capitol. i established a army there and sailed back to england. i conquered it and now i'm a million in red.

A million in the red!? Crikey.

You already know the chavs would beat you to Spain....
Nah, they wouldn't beat me to spain, they'd beat me to Palma. After all, we all know what island that is, and that it just so happens to be chav holiday paradise. It's a breeding ground for the burberry scum.

You only have to play for a couple of hundred years and you'll be out of the red!! But taking into account the losses your prolly suffering....make that a couple of thousand years.

Oh well....enjoy your couple of thousand years of playing!! That also means you'll have to use the same units over and over without retraining, because you won't have money for new ones or to retrain the old ones!!

you can always retrain, atleast i thought. but this was pre-patch thing i dont play the crusade anymore. i'm now busy testing Protectorates.

    already found some bugs.
1 you cant build forts in your protectorates country
    2 if you have 3 protectorates you'll get 100 million a turn
3 they won't attack countries anymore

    but also some good things
1 you won't loose money anymore
2 they pay money every turn
3 they can't attack you anymore
4 thay accept almost everything you ask them

    We do not sow.
